This my 6th J7122 to NACS Adaptor so you can believe I'm fairly experienced with the subject. This item came in the typical packaging of a cardboard box with a styrofoam padding around it to ensure its safe arrival. I like that it wasn't taped shut thus requiring extra effort and tooling, instead, just pull the edge with the tabs tucked into both sides of the box and it conveniently opens right up. There, in the no frill packaging, sits the adapter along with a fold out direction which is promptly tucked into the box while the adapter is removed from the box. A quick visual inspection reveals the typical adapter construction. The chosen material is interesting. Some kind of plastic that shows up as a very flat (both in the sense of color as well as the texture). The best way to describe it is that it feels satiny to touch, and almost as smooth as a glossy one and way more smooth than the textured plastic kind that are more common. As is with some of these adapters, the first insert takes a more proper orientation and alignment. It resisted my insertion force the first time enough to trigger and error warning both from the car and through my Tesla app. No big deal, it could be me as much as it could be the adapter. Unlocking the port, unplug and re-plug, this time, paying more attention to my insertion orientation and force, it plugged right in and charging starts correctly this round. The unique feature of this adapter is that it has a plastic tab at the J1772 end with a hole in it. Perfect for the solution I am devising to tether it to my actual J1772 plug. This way I don't need to fumble through my stuff to get an adapter when I need to charge my vehicle with the NACS charge port. One will always be ready for me. Regarding the marking comment in the title, this item just has a sticker stuck on it rather than the common and more permanent markings using laser or silkscreen. More interesting, evenness, is the complete absence of any regulatory testing and certification markings. You will notice that there is a FCC marking on the box. But does that mean the box is GCC approved or the adapter is? Between questionable testing and certification markings it makes me wonder.Another fact that unlike most adapters that are rated for 80 amps. This one is at 60 amps. Neither would made a difference for me as I'm limited to 40 amps, but it still makes me wonder why this adapter is different to be (de)rated by 25%? While I am all for under-promise and over deliver, it does bring some question into my otherwise satisfied mind. So much so I believe that it warrants a star deduction.
