I’ve been using this 16A portable EV charger for a while now, and it has worked really well for my needs. The first thing to realize is that these devices are not really "chargers". The actual charger (the part converting A/C from your wall into D/C for your battery) is built into your EV. And they have a limit. Some like mine are only 3.6kW units. So trying to use a circuit larger than 16A, won't charge your car any faster. These units simply communicate with the hardware built in to your EV and allow the 120/240v from your wall to enter the charge port. Given that, this TopAutoGear unit works fine. It has zero bells or whistles. It has a few status LED's and nothing else. But the charge cable is thick and doesn't even get warm. I say this, because I've used other setups where the cable would get very warm to the touch, leading me to believe they didn't quite have enough copper in the lines. This unit is a simple wall box with a thick cable. The CCS1 connector plugs into the charge port with a solid click as well. For the current $100 asking price, these seems like a decent bargain for a unit that will pass 3.6kW.

This is a good, simple charger that's practical and easy to use. It will depend on your preferences, you can get far more complicated models with apps and programming for a similar price. But considering the possibility of malfunctions, I would prefer a simpler model, and this fits the bill. It will also work well for older folks or those with their first EV vehicle. This is easy to install, though I would recommend making a dedicated 240V outlet, otherwise charging can take a little too long for daily use. With 240V electricity, this charges fast, and stops when full. The cable feels thick and durable, and nothing overheated dangerously when left plugged overnight. The handle feels durable too, it's a solid charger. It also comes with a sturdy canvas bag, which makes traveling with this easier, or storage as needed. It works well for charging GM cars, and once an adapter was plugged on, worked for charging a Tesla too.

Love how easy and uncomplicated this EV charger is to use, simply plug in and charge your car! No apps to download and have to learn to use, no need to worry about wi-fi or Bluetooth, it just works straight out of the box. Supports both Level 1 and Level 2, is well made and durable, and comes with a thick zippered portable bag to conveniently store or carry the charger. Perfect to use at home to charge your car overnight, at work or when travelling so you aren't caught short. Very reasonably priced it represents good value.
