I cannot evaluate performance, as I could not install the charger and had to return it. It appeared to be a good quality product. The owner's manual with it was one of the best I've seen, and provided some information I wish I'd known four years ago. The charger is quite large and must be installed directly above the NEMA wall receptacle. The grounding lug of the plug is at the bottom, so if your wall receptacle is the inverse of that, you will find it difficult to impossible to install the charger. Because my wall receptacle has the ground insert at the top and is directly below my breaker box, this charger just would not work for me without my spending several hundred more dollars to have the NEMA plug moved.

Did lots of research but decided on this one. No fuss charging, no settings to mess with, it just works. Car takes care of what it needs. Bought the 40amp and had it professionally installed. Needed additional breakerbox work. Do realize they always require additional amps for safety. The 40amp version needs a 50Amp breaker. I had to supply 80 amps to my breaker due to there being an electric oven that uses a 30amp breaker as well. I also choose the nema outlet so in case I need to replace it I can just unplug it. I may decide to use the dual version one day in case I get an additional electric car. I am very happy with it, it charger my 75kw battery in less than 7 hours. For those who never had EV car, you generally are advised not to charge beyond 80%, and you probably don’t drive it till it’s empty, so maybe till 10%. So that gives you an effective range of about 70% of the total range. In my case that’s only about 5 hours of charging. The EV car normally has settings where you can set it up on when to charge, for example past midnight, to save money by charging only during non peak hours. The cable gets warm during charg8ng but not hot. Mostly it lays on the cold garage floor. I’m in California so we’ll see how hot it gets after the winter is over. This is a good brand I’ve seen used at car dealers. I’d stay away from chargers with all the fancy options, they tend to be flakey. I’ve always believed to get the one single tool for the job instead of getting something that promises to do all.

I've had the charger for about a month now and as other reviews have pointed out this is a pretty serious unit. It's considerably larger than the 110v EV that comes with many cars and isn't really what I would call portable. Sure you can take this with you if you want to fill up your entire trunk or frunk but personally I think it's better to leave it permanently installed somewhere. The unit feels very solid despite being lightweight. The charging and plug cables are very thick yet flexible. The charging adapter (the plug to your car) feels somewhat cheap and wasn't the white one they feature on their site. Not a big deal hopefully but wanted to point it out. While I would appreciate a slightly larger cable on the plug end so that it can fit better I understand that it can't be given certain regulations. Yes it makes a semi-loud thunk when you plug it in as other reviews have mentioned but so have other Level 2 chargers I've plugged in to. I'm giving it 4 stars mainly because of the cost given the features it offers. This is a no frills charger, it doesn't have any delay options, or wifi connectivity to it whatsoever. You literally plug this in to your car to charge and unplug when you're done. I use my car to schedule charging at night during Off Peak hours so that the power is cheaper so the lack of these features isn't a problem for me. That said at a little over $600 (with shipping) it does feel like it is a little pricey for what you're getting. Some may have a problem with this while others don't. I personally don't and am happy to buy a solid product built in the USA that has great customer service and a good warranty even if it comes at a bit of a premium. I compared a few chargers and in the end focused on this, the 32A one from Chargepoint, and the Juicebox Pro 40A. I liked the ability to swap the charging cord on the Chargepoint and it's wifi connectivity and the Chargepoint app as I frequently charge with them. I liked the Juicebox for it's price and features. In the end the Chargepoint didn't work as I didn't feel like changing out my outlet and breakers (as they say for some reason it can only be on a 40A circuit and I had 50A) and the Juicebox while seeming feature rich for the cost along with a higher charging capacity seemed like a big risk as I called the company on 3 separate times never once being able to get in touch with anybody. Awesome customer service *sarcasm* and could imagine the headache if I had to deal with a warranty claim. Call Clipper Creek and you'll get a person very quickly! So in the end I got the Clipper Creek and have been very happy with it. Hope that continues on for many years to come!
