If you have 100 to 150 amp service, this is a great compromise to a new panel. In my research I found surprisingly few options for load managed power delivery and nothing was as cheap as this. The Emporia Pro uses the VUE 3 monitor to determine the energy usage in your home and you set your electrical service amperage in the app. I had an electrician install a 50 amp breaker because of the wiring chosen but you can install a 60 amp breaker. When you're charging and your home needs the power, the charger lowers the charge speed to compensate. This does mean it's software load management and not hardware. The advantage of software is you'll be able to see the energy usage of your home in an app but it also means it will rely on internet access so make sure your wifi reaches the garage with sufficient signal. When the unit loses internet, it will lower charge rates to whatever you set in the app, its intentionally set low to prevent tripping your main breaker. Most electricians I spoke with prefer the hardware load management and in many ways, they're right but the typical contractors tend to shy away from technology. This thing is a quiet giant! The included Vue system is the real hidden gem. It has simplified my electrical monitoring and makes charging both convenient and efficient. I purchased another eight CT monitors to chase down the last of the energy hogs. Time to trim the bacon!

Works Great. We have a smaller electrical panel and this charger thus far has not created any issues while charging. Worked perfectly with our EV from the start. I just got new model Y and I tried install car charger at home. I have 200a service but since all my major appliances are electrics some electrician quote panel upgrade to 400a which cost over $7k. Some other quote with attached load management device which cost over $800 device only. After internet research I found emporia pro charger will fits my needs and budget.
