I've read all the reviews on this umbrellas and quite frankly I cannot understand any negative reviews. This is a well made and thought out commercial grade umbrella that has a heavy fabric and strong pole and arms. I like the pin that you can use once extended, to take pressure off the extension mechanism - none of my previous umbrellas have had that, and so the extension string finally failed. This umbrella is beautiful and priced below competitors. I love it. J. Amos.

I’ve had a pool 5 years and this is my 3rd umbrella and from what I can tell my last one for a while. It is made very well with hydraulic lift arms which makes it easy to open. No crank case to break. It opens more flat with 2 vent areas that are separated by an inch when open to allow wind to easily blow thru not putting stress on the umbrella. The pole is bigger and fits snug in the table hole so it doesn’t sway at all. The canvas fabric is thick and secure on each point for a no tare stability. This is a great umbrella for the money! I highly recommend this umbrella. Don’t buy the ones under $200. They don’t last and are very cheaply made.

This umbrella sits on a deck one block from the shore. It held up very well even on windy days although I do put it down when winds are extreme. The color was great and seems to be holding for the two months I used it. Easy to assemble good material. It was heavier then pipe um rellas but they all broke within a year. This umbrella does exactly what I need it to do. It looks attractive when in use. Customer service is responsive. However, the design is seriously flawed, making this umbrella not very durable. You have to treat it with kid gloves. The second time I went to use the umbrella, there was a crunching sound and the umbrella canopy stopped moving while the crank moved freely in either direction. I disassembled the mechanism and found the crank shaft had sheered in two. It's easy for that to happen given the way the mechanism is made. While the crank is steel, the rest of bobbin assembly is cast aluminum. In addition, the bearings at the ends of the crankshaft are just nylon sleeves that fit into a cast aluminum race. That means the full weight of the canopy presses the end of the nylon on the ends crankshaft up into the relatively rough aluminum casting. This makes it very easy for the crankshaft to bind. In my case, with the unit disassembled, and no weight on the crankshaft, I still needed the crank handle to get the shaft to turn. I wrote to customer service and asked them how to repair the umbrella, hoping they would send a new bobbin mechanism. They sent me a whole new umbrella. Now I have a spare canopy. This wasn't my first experience with EliteShade customer service. When I first ordered the this, the package, which is about 7 feet long and weights about 80 pounds was left on my doorstep. One end of the package had been ripped open and taped back together with white tape that had red lettering that read: "INSPECTED". When I opened the package I found that all the assembly hardware was missing. After three email exchanges with customer service and about a month, I got all the missing parts except two screws; which took another week or so to get from Home Depot. Now that I have rebuilt this umbrella, I still have two complaints: it is difficult to open. It takes two people or me going back and forth between the crank and the umbrella to get it to start opening. This is because the ribs on the canopy bind on one another and the crank mechanism is binding on the crank casing. I also don't think it looks attractive when not in use. The folded canopy dangles in space a couple of feet from the ground five feet out from the pole. You can't leave a table under the umbrella when it is collapsed. Anything to the sides has to be moved out of the way for the canopy to deploy.
