I bought the charger for its versatility (it can do level 1 and 2 charging). I was pleased with its quality — the plugs are very sturdy and the cable is thick yet flexible. The carrying case is good for storage, although it is a bit of a pain to get the cable all wound up correctly without flipping and scratching the charger. The screen is very clear and easy to read, and it’s easy to adjust the amperage if you need to do so. It gives a record of kilowatts used during the charge, which is what I was looking for. I like that the cable is 30 feet when most are only 25. I used every bit of it to charge my vehicle at a camp in the country when I could not approach the plug very closely. Update: I have used this charger frequently for the past 9 months since I have had the possibility of charging at home. It has worked flawlessly. I charge to 100% overnight at 32 amps, every 10 days to two weeks.

We just bought a Jeep 4xe and were looking to upgrade the standard 120v (level 1) charger to a 240v (level 2) for faster charging. There were a ton out there and prices from $150-$700, I chose the cheaper. It comes with an adapter so it can be plugged into 120v outlet and did a good job charging it. With the 240v it’s perfect. The Jeep has a max of 32amp and that’s what this caps out at. The cord is LONG. As you see in the pic the Jeeps parked backed in (driveway is just over a car length) and it reaches to plug in (just infront of the drivers door). Water resistant and fits great. Update 6mo use: Absolutely ZERO issues. Honestly best investment for this 4xe. We don’t use the timer or anything like that, just plug and go. UPDATE 1yr use: Finally started acting up. Would charge for a few minutes then stop. LED screen was wonky.

2024-03-30 Update: While this doesn't affect my rating, I did find I could improve the latch mechanism significantly by adding a rubber band. I've added pictures showing the internal spring I think should be stronger and the way I placed a rubber band to help increase tension. These are my initial impressions after trying it with a couple cars (Spark EV and Bolt EV). I will update this review if my experience changes with time. Pros: Very nice semihard carrying case Bright display with useful information Touch-sensitive buttons for adjusting amperage and setting a delay Clear usage instructions and works as expected Almost comically thick cable inspires confidence (see photos of my finger next to it and an OEM GM EVSE for comparison) Included 5-15 adapter is nice to have Cons: Carrying case is very big and I may not end up using it when traveling Overall set is very heavy because of the (likely overkill) cord thickness Latch on J1772 connector is a little loose I'll start my detailed feedback with that last point. When connecting to either of my EVs, the plug makes a connection and charging initiates just fine. However, the latch doesn't click into place as surely as with other connectors I've used. The latch appears to close enough to make the connection, but there is a lot of play and I have to push up from under the button on the handle to feel like the latch is all the way down. I won't try it, but I imagine you could yank the plug out while the vehicle is actively charging if you don't intentionally pull the switch up to push the latch all the way down. I suppose it needs a stronger spring or less travel. It's also possible my unit has a weak spring and this isn't common, but I don't have a second unit to compare. Aside from the latch, I don't have any concerns yet. My Spark EV immediately pulled the 3.4 kW I expected (the Spark maxes out at 3.3-3.4 kW, either 14A at 240V or 16A at 208V with variation in between). My Bolt EV pulled a surprising 34A for a max of 8.0 kW according to the display, and I believe it based on the resulting charge time. No connector or other part of the EVSE became warm during these tests. I do not have a 40A-capable EV to try at this time. To summarize, I am happy with this for the price and given the feature set. I especially appreciate being able to derate the amperage for times when I may not need the full 32 or 40 amps that my car can pull or in case I need to use an adapter to plug into a 30A outlet (and therefore charge at a max of 24A). Unfortunately, the loose latch mechanism makes this feel a little toylike (the thought no doubt aided by the bright colors, which I actually like very much) and I can't give it a perfect score.

I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to add mine here in case it helps someone in the future. I purchased this and had an electrician come set it up. Unfortunately, while it turned on just fine, we could not pair it with the app, and the Wifi indicator light on the display was flashing rapidly at us. I poured through the instructions -- which are pretty minimal -- and through every online support venue I could find, but I could not find anybody who had this problem. There are a few YouTube videos of folks installing this product, but as far as I could tell, theirs worked just fine without the flashing wifi indicator. Finally, I got in touch with the company itself via email, and they were able to help me: there's an emergency shutoff button on the right of the charger, and if you press it three times it functions something like a factory reset. (I had already flipped the breaker a few times to try power cycling). But doing this reset seemed to reset whatever was wrong with the antenna and I was able to sync it no problem at that point. So. Just in case you end up where I was. Press the emergency power shutoff button three times and you'll reset the machine. Hopefully that works for you.

It charges well and can be plugged into a regular outlet in your garage. If you're not driving that far every day it might be all you'll need. 10 or 12 hours on the charger keeps you charged up. But if more miles available to drive every day then you will have to put a 220 outlet in your garage to get more charging capacity in a shorter time.
