I mostly use this for cooking bread/sourdough. It is helpful for the lid to be flat so it can be placed top down and then I can cover it with rest. Good and sturdy. Very heavy since it is cast Iron. Love that it is durable and can be very versatile.

I smoothed the inside a little with a grinder as well as the top. The top fits good. Works great and will last years. This was bought for sourdough bread and it works perfect. Used the top for bacon and eggs, also worked great. I have a number of cast iron pots and frying pans. This works as well as the others more expensive brands and is heavier than the WalMart brand nearly as heavy as Lodge although the surface is rougher.     • Cooks bread like a champ!

Love the fact that the lid doubles as a frying pan but the texture is super coarse. It's going to be a nightmare to clean. However, once it's non stick, I assume it's going to be like any other cast iron pan and will eventually be a breeze to clean up. One note about the seasoning... I washed it before first use and there's a heavy odor of iron. Don't wipe with a paper towel because you'll just get paper towel dust all over the thing -- use a good cloth towel. Coat the pan with a good wipe of vegetable oil (I used peanut) and bake it in the oven again to re-season it before cooking in it.. you want everything to burn off before having food make contact with whatever they put on it at the factory. So far, my first loaf of bread came out perfect and there's no off flavor from the smoke from it's first use. I like this pot, you probably will too :) ... show more

Excellent quality. This is a very basic cast iron Dutch oven and it bakes the perfect sourdough bread loaf. I’ve baked 12 innit this far and have another 10 to go. It’s absolutely as good as my $350 Le Creuset, and much leas stress if I stain it or mishandle it. This thing is just as good as ANY high dollar Dutch over. When I wrote this it was the cheapest one on Amazon for its size. It’s the perfect size, weight, and structure. Holds heat beautifully. The lid is particularly useful. It just bakes a perfect loaf. In fact, for baking, it’s better than the enameled Le Creuset. And you can beat it up because there is no fancy finish to scratch. Just love this thing. Sturdy and just right. Don’t know how those Chinese do it. I hate that a domestic cast iron Dutch oven Costa $200 and this does the same for $40. ... show more

This is a wonderful cast iron pot that can have many different uses. It cooks evenly and holds heat well. I haven't used the top to cook with--yes, the top can be used as a small skillet. A 2fer! Gonna Keep this .

I bought this for a friend back in January. She finally unboxed it and used it in March. She called me to say that the pot and cover were rusted after she washed them and her food turned black even as she was cooking it. I wanted to return it right away but the window for returns was closed. So I have an expensive pot not being used and stuck with the price of it.
