  • Great Value
Size: 5QT
For the price, this is wonderful. I use it to make sourdough loaves, which reach temperatures around 500ºF, and they come out great. I haven't made anything in it that could stick, since my bread sits on a liner. Be sure to have thick oven gloves, it gets very hot to handle! I find the handles it comes with hard to. use, since you have to hold them open to grab the handle, and it can't hold both sides of the cooker at once. If you twist the top off-center from the bottom to separate the handles, you can grab them separately, but still hard to get them to clamp since they are already curved inward ... show more

  • Multiuse dutch oven pot and detachable lid that serves as a great griddle/comal
Size: 5QT
I admit I was a little skeptical about the non-sticking quality and pres-easoning but both are absolutely true. This product is easy made with high quality, easy to clean (although I do recommend wiping it down carefully at least as soon as your done cooking) and love the silicone removable handles to allow you to pick up the handles when the pot is hot. The removable lid has been great for using as a griddle/comal for cooking both corn and flour tortillas as well as pancakes, eggs or frying bacon without overcooking. Heats fast but evenly. ... show more

  • GREAT PRICE AND BAKES GREAT BREAD
Size: 5QT
Excellent cast iron Dutch oven and the lid can be used for cornbread or for frying. I purchased it to bake bread and my only complaint is about those red handles. They're silicone but most silicone can only withstand 428 degrees and most bread recipes baked in the Dutch Oven method requires 475 degrees so they can't be used in that application. But, if you're cooking below 428 degrees, you can put them on and leave them on in the oven, which is nice. ... show more

  • Great for bread making
Size: 5QT
I got this because I needed a good cast iron Dutch oven to cook bread it. This is well made, very thick metal. It keeps the heat even and cooks the bread eventually. I was worried that the bottom may burn but everything came out perfectly. It clears up easily, just wipe it out once it's cool and your good to go. ... show more

  • A great product under one condition ….
Size: 3QT
… that you season it really well beforehand. This is what I did to ensure a stick-free cooking experience: Take a metal scrubbing pad and scrub it with dish soap and water. Try to get the surface as smooth as possible. I had to do this 4 times. Set it over a stove over medium heat to evaporate the water. Set oven to 450 degrees. Wipe the cast iron (inside and out) with a THIN layer of vegetable oil. Set inside of over upside down for 30-45 mins. Let cool. Repeat 2 more times. After all of that you should be good to go. ... show more

  • Awesome for the price!
Size: 5QT
Love then! As long as you treat them righ( OILED/SEASONED ! ) They love you for ever. They are not and I repeat ment to use directly out of the box dry n then wash them n store away. This why so many reviews complain about rusting and cracking. My suggestion would be rinse then in warm water put dry then fry so good old chicken or fish in them. Then rinse them pat dry and put back on the stove on low heat n the work them up to a high heat for about 30sec turn off let it cool. Then you will never have an issue with rusting. ... show more

  • Sourdough Dutch oven on a budget
Size: 5QT
A friend recommended this cast iron Dutch oven after he had bought a much pricier one & said the big name brands aren’t worth the price difference. Not only does the base do the same job at lower price, but the expensive brand doesn’t have a reversible lid the way this model does; the lid can function as a skillet on its own. I’m using this just for a sourdough bread Dutch oven. The recipe & method I use, calls for putting 3 ice cubes in with the loaf as it bakes, for steam to help it rise. My friend said no matter how he tries to take care of his expensive brand Dutch oven, it still rusts from the ice cubes. If that’s the use I’m going for & it’s gonna rust anyway, I’m very happy with this well-priced & sturdy Dutch oven just for sourdough. This was only my 2nd attempt at making sourdough bread, and clearly these are “new baker” loafs, but they’re leaps & bounds better than the ones from my first batch when I didn’t have a Dutch oven & cobbled together something “good enough.” Cook times were exactly per recipe. The size is just right for a round or oval boule standard size bread loaf & probably other shapes I haven’t tried yet as well. Bonus: this included a freebie set of silicone grip pads for the handles. That was unexpected & nice & practical. ... show more

  • Great
Size: 5QT
Works great. I seasoned after receiving and it works perfectly. No sticking and wipes up with ease. The flat lid is wonderful to be used separately as a skillet. Nothing like a good cast iron. I am expecting this to last for years to come.
