  • For a VERY, VERY small coop
I rated 5 stars because this unit does exactly what it claims - both sides heat up, but not hot enough to start a fire if knocked over. The problem is, when I did a test run in my 8' x 10' coop, there was zero temp change even within a foot of this. I didn't expect it to heat coop, just wanted it to take a tiny bit of the edge off during extra cold days...this won't. That being said, I'm keeping it for use in future brooders or for SMALL coop 2'x3' I use for isolating injured chickens. So all in all, nothing wrong with product, but it simply fell short of my expectations. ... show more

  • My chickens are laying eggs, again
My chickens quit laying eggs, because it was too cold. So, I put up some canvas around their coop and hung up the little heater. The next day, I had three eggs! Hallelujah!

  • Works as it Should/ electric bill soared ⬆️⬆️⬆️
My coop is very small, 3'x3'x3'.5" My birds did fine with this, with temperatures down to -30° °f But, my electric bill went up by 25% while using ONLY one panel of the 2 heated panels. My coop is well insulated, with proper ventilation. I considered getting another one for my (water) well house, which has the same dimensions as my coop, but with the high consumption of electricity, I will not. I only have 2 birds. These last few years haven't been nearly as cold as it use to be. The coldest days have gone down to a few weeks, instead of the months of bitter cold of the past. If energy cost are not a concern for you, it's a good product. I can't speak to longevity of this product, I've only had it this season,2023/2024, it's not over yet, but as of February, it's not been necessary to use it this entire month. If you are governed by energy cost, you might be better to find other ways to manage the cold for your birds. I use straw bales, stacked around the outer walls of the coop, to reduce the drafts from the cold northern winds, Good luck with your birds. Hope this was helpful. Will update after 2024/2025 season comes and go. ... show more

  • Great product for the money!
Simple and strait forward to connect and utilize. Hens love it when low temps get extreme.

  • Great heater!
I love this heater. The idea of it is if the chickens are cold they stand near it for heat. The stand you screw on work great so it won't fall over . My coop is small so it actually does heat up a bit. But the main idea is if they are cold just go near it. I really love it and works better and safer than a heat lamp. Would recommend. ... show more

  • Good Quality
I have ordered a few different chicken heaters off of Amazon this year to see which are the best option for keeping our winter hatched chicks warm. This one is much more sturdy than then the others and I was initially quite impressed with the quality of construction and materials used. The two sided design is brilliant and I am happy with the design and workmanship of the heater. However, and this is a big deal, it does not radiate heat outward. So even if I put my hand a half inch away I feel zero heat. Meanwhile, if I touch it, it burns my hand and is too hot to comfortably touch. That means the only way it can effectively provide heat is by touching it and that causes a huge burn risk to the chicks. So despite it being by far the best quality of build, of the heaters I bought, the cheaply made ones radiate heat outward and are therefore a safer and better option, even if the low quality makes them seem less safe. ... show more
