  • Excellent product, we love it!!!!!
We are really enjoying our awning. The quality is great, the price very cheap! Now I can finally enjoy my swing reading, listening music or just relax from early spring to late fall time no matter if it's raining, sunny, chilli day. We mounted ours on vinyl which was our first concern because the product instructions specify otherwise. Here are the instructions my husband prepared for you to install your awning on vinyl/wood siding: Find the vertical 2X4 or 2X6 that is part of your wall. The brackets they supply does not have to be in any particular space. Otherwise, you have the freedom to find the location to mount the brackets with a tolerance either to the left or to the right up to 2 feet. Place the brackets against your siding and mark it. Use a sending disk machine, you can purchase one very cheap of Harbor Freight, and with the edge of the hard and rough sandpaper disk cut away the siding. You cannot use any saw even a fine tooth one do to breaking and chipping the siding. You can use a 3 1/16” diameter drill bit to pre-drill the 2X4 or the 2X6 for the mounting screws. Make sure that you turn the screws into the center of the 2X4 or 2X6 vertical. I would suggest to pre-drill 1-1/2 to 2” deep. This is as simple as it can get. Of course, there could be a different situation in your case that it is easy to overcome. Do to the given situation you could cut and pull away from the siding for mounting a horizontal beam of by doubling two 2X8” pressure treated planks (lumber). You can mount this planks one at the time to numerous vertical beams. After mounting it seal the edges with silicon and paint it as the same color either of your house or the awning. This way you have a very strong beam holding your awning and you have the freedom to move the brackets at any position you want to. This double plank (beam) is 3” deep in depth. This is the minimum thickness that is required to have the strength of holding your awning securely. Actually, it is very easy to all this. Once you have the brackets in position two persons can easily slide the awning into the bracket and secure it with the screws the company supplies. Once the awning is mounted only then unsecured the packaging strips that are holding it securely for transportation. To adjust the angle of the rain to run off is super easy by loosening 2 lock screws and turning either in or out the adjusting screws. The two supporting arms on both sides of the awning should not be straight, so don’t worry if you see a slight angle in the open position. You have to sit under this awning to appreciate the good look of it and enjoying the shade it gives you and also if you have the right angle it is a perfect protection against the rain. ... show more

  • A great awning for a fantastic price!
This is the second Dienweek awning we have purchased. Well constructed and easy to assemble (you need two people at some point and follow the instructions for mounting). You can spend a fortune on awnings and we have in the past, but this time around we wanted to hold the cost down and decided to try Dienweek. Very glad we did. First off, it arrived promptly. Secondly, it arrived in wonderful condition and the Amazon delivery man even carried it to the exact spot we wanted to install it. Third, these awnings offer wonderful shade, easy to crank out and crank in and they look great on our two homes. Awnings can only be used for shade, not protection from elements, but I will admit that if we have a misting, light rain, we will crank it out for that protection, but that is all. Hence, with limited use, sometimes you don't want to spend a fortune, but then get concerned about quality. For the cost these awnings are amazing. So far these awnings have worked flawlessly for us. Not sure yet how they will hold up to extreme heat and sun in Ohio or Colorado, but I believe if you take care of them and use them as intended, they should last a long time. Happy with our purchases. ... show more

  • Ease of Installation & Quality..
Delivery was delayed “due transportation difficulties“. 5 days. Once delivered inspected package for damage and found to be ok. Mounting went well by using a 2x6x12’ header board painted with Killz installed over patio door framing, as the wall is not masonry. I used 6-6” steel wood lag screws into overhead wall & sliding door frame studs. Quite secure. Once the brackets were in place my son & I lifted the 56lb awning into place & inserted the 3 pins, opened the awning with the manual handle & set the awning angle of depression to my liking, about 20°. Quite satisfied with paint & cover. Update: After 2 months of nearly daily use the fabric is in overall good condition, however, the dark green striping has faded quite quickly to a bland white/greenish color on the sun side. The underside is still dark green, but it’s just a matter of another 2 months or so before it starts to fade out from what I can tell. The awning fabric has started to crumple a bit when rolling the awning closed at about the 1/2 way point, which I attribute to stretch of the fabric, however it has not folded over on itself. When opened up there is some light slack in the center that wasn’t there when first installed, it still fairly tight. The frame, paint & gearing system are all in like new condition with the gear operation still smooth. All in all, I give it 4.8 stars of 5 at this point. Well done Diensweek! ... show more

  • Nice quality, pretty easy install
I've had this in my cart for a while and bought this once the house got painted, I just put it up this week. Bought it without reading through the questions regarding installation so wanted to comment back a bit once I put this up. Instructions are very detailed for masonry (concrete/brick) install and it does come with lags and shields for both. I'm stucco over whatever is under the stucco and so you just need to understand a bit how to attach loads to your house. Over the window and door where this went I have (and most would have) a 2 x 12 header and likely a stack of 2 x 4's in the gaps. I drilled a pilot hole through the stucco to test, hit the header as expected then went ahead and installed the brackets. Process being, drill 3/8 hole through stucco then drill pilot hole through the header. Kit comes with four lag bolts (grade 2) but I switched that out with stainless lags same size and added stainless washers, added cost about $10. Brackets are 11 feet on center, I held up the shade to the brackets while my wife slid in the safety bolts. One thing I would have done differently was peel the film of the arms before I put it up but it wasn't a huge deal to remove after. The look is very nice, please excuse the porch mess in the pictures, it's my next project. ... show more
