The DEWALT 16 Amp J1772 Level 2 Charger is a decent charger because of the size, the material finishes on the cable are top tier and the charger feels very solid with an extremely tough housing. The cable is definitely thick enough to handle the flow rate and heat at 0.589 inches in diameter for 16 amps. The cord length is excellent! The charger is built tougher and more durable than most competitors and thus is heavier weighing in at 6.38 pounds! The handle quality is excellent. It has an ergonomic shape to it with silicone gripping areas. My hand fits nicely on it. The thumb switch is very smooth to operate! It has a decent tight fitting silicone cover that it comes with to cover the connection port. What this device is missing is a digital readout. Competitors have a very nice digital readout that tells you missing information from this type of unit such as time on charge, voltage, and temperature. Sure, the vehicle tells you some of this information but the temperature is an essential piece of data which it can’t tell you. The readout on the device tells you if there is power, if it is ready, if it is charging, and if there is a fault. A very simple readout that isn’t up to modern times! This device is plug and play. I was using this to charge up my 2024 Kia Niro EV and it was sustaining 16 amps. I have this connected through an extension cable that is coming off of a 50-amp breaker. The operating temperature for this DEWALT charger is rated to 122 degrees Fahrenheit which I have found covers this amperage rate well. The carrying case is made out of a durable nylon that looks and feels good, and easily accommodates for the size of the charger and cable. They also included padding throughout the case. It has a basic nylon strap with a secondary layer on it as a handle.

This a great EV charger that works great and is built really well compared to a lot of the cheap EV chargers from China. Its not a very fast charger @16A, even while using it with 240a, but its not slow. It seems to be right in the middle. I also really like the case it comes with and of course the DeWalt branding matches all of my tools, lol. Overall, its been working great and charges my hybrid with no issues, I also like that the cord is pretty long so I don't have to pull my car into the garage to reach it.

This charger is constructed very well. The connections are solid and secure. The charger module is no nonsense plug and play. Don't be fooled by chargers with timers and other features as that just makes them prone to hiccups or errors. The first time using it was seamless and it just works. In my setup, I used a nema 10-50 electric range outlet with an adapter to 14-50 female receptacle. In between that adapter and the charger is a 14-50 30 foot extension of 6 gauge wiring. On a warm day there is no sign of the wiring getting warm at all. The charger runs at 7kwh to charge my 38kwh battery in about 6 hours. The carrying case is decent enough if not just a little small. I worry about leaving it in the car in plain view as the black and yellow DeWalt branding might prove tempting to a thief. :) I'm very happy with this unit, 4 stars!

I love the fact that the unit comes with a nice DeWALT style bag, AND an adapter to plug into a 3 prong 240V socket. The unit charges at 16A, whether it's 120V, or 240V. The long 25 ft cord allows me to charge the car without having to back up into the driveway.

DeWalt, a brand synonymous with dependability, has extended its reputation to electric vehicle charging. I love them! Their EV charger offers a reassuring choice amidst the growing market of less familiar options that I've seen pop up on some retailers. I’ve had the opportunity to use this charger at a for a few weeks now and have been consistently impressed. Portability and ease of use are two standout qualities. The included carrying case and adapters for various outlets make it a hassle-free companion for charging on the go. While it may not deliver the lightning-fast speeds of some Level 2 chargers, it’s a substantial improvement over my basic Level 1 and has been perfect for my road trips so far a few hours away. I'm always stressing my EV’s range during long haul trips, and with this charger I don't have to. I love the ruggedness of this charger also. The charger’s construction is robust, suggesting it will endure frequent use and drops. Although it does generate some heat during charging, its normal. If you prioritize reliability and portability in an EV charger and value the backing of a trusted brand, DeWalt’s offering is a strong contender. I'm considering the 32 Amp, level 2 version of this for home now also.

Got one brand new plugged it in and nothing. Checked the plug and breaker, had power. Everything plugged in correctly but nothing, no display, power nothing. Expensive plastic brick. Returned

This is our third EV charger and we finally found one that worked.....for about a week. My partner checked the breaker and everything else and we couldn't find the source of the problem. It does look and feel durable and I think it's built with quality materials. The charging speed when it did work was relatively quick.
