This is my first edit, regarding installation. Installation takes a little doing, it's not difficult, but there are some things that you need to know. The tolerances on the included template are exact, so don't allow any "wiggle room" ...in my opinion, this is some really bad engineering. The template will have you cutting VERY close to where the mounting screws go, so if you cut the hole even a little too large, the screws will have nothing to latch on to. The second thing to know is to not drill your pilot holes at the corners, drill them in the centers of the horizontal and vertical lines. The tools that I needed were a drill and a Rockwell Sonicrafter saw, as well as a screwdriver, calking-gun, and chasing hammer. I needed the caulk as an adhesive, as I cut the hole just a fraction two large and then had no metal to drive the screws into. That's installation. Next edit will be about operation. The media could not be loaded. My cat is on the heavier side and I went with the medium door anyway for my bedroom. Pumpkin can squeeze through with not much of a problem. The door sticks a little because I need to sand down a small area inside my door. I used a manual hacksaw to cut door, so I didn’t get a perfect cut. Works well for its purpose to let the cats wonder around the house without constantly getting up to open the door. Sometimes one male cat goes through too fast or hard and the door gets stuck open for a few minutes. Thought the door was a little heavy for one of my females but then my 7lb frail geriatric female went through just fine. Turns out the bigger female just plays with the door like an annoying toy. Very annoying. Ive only attempted to lock it 3 times. All three times was super annoying, but effective. Cats couldn’t get through but had to fiddle with the locks for a minute before I could get them to slide into the right position. Would probably get easier with use. ... show more

Install was a pain. The template is a piece of junk. You will have to continue to cut the door to actually make the cat door fit. The magnet that holds the swinging door in place is strong. My cats can't push it (they're on the smaller side) and they're so offended by this door (LOL). I have shoved them through it, enticed with treats, left it sitting open in the upright position. Nothing gives. I am planning to remove the magnet to make in/out easier for them. Hopefully it will help them learn how to use it. ... show more
