  • Reliable Reliable
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought one and found it very reliable. I needed a second one so I bought the same model. Using Switch-bot products attached to the door, I can get remote notifications when my five farm cats go in or out. I would pay more for the following functionalities: 1) If the door was able to integrate into IoT and remotely notify me that a cat came in or out and which actual cat did the coming and going, that would be very valuable. 2) If the door lock had remote control functionality so I could switch between the four different locking methods, that would be very valuable to keep my cats inside as inclement weather approached or to keep them inside if there were other hazards outside. 3) If the door wiring was able to have extra wires and a connection port built into the device, I could collect the specific cat info and transmit said info via Raspberry Pi or similar device if the manufacturer didn't want to invest in the notifications via built in electronics. I installed my original door into a 3/4" painted OSB board and then inserted the board into an unused, double hung window. Cats need to climb a cat approved obstacle course to enter/exit via the door. This keeps normally grounded critters from finding the door too easily. It also lets the cats observe the outside before exiting. It also helps with programming the door with "new" cats because I can bring the door to the cat versus the opposite. I use my second door to limit access to a portion of the house for mom cat access because she needs her own feeding station away from her grown litter kits. In the picture, I installed a beehive queen excluder as the exterior floor. This keeps a degree of dirt outside and prevents snow build up in front of the door. ... show more

  • Easy to install.. 2 doors work for our purpose. Easy to install.. 2 doors work for our purpose.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
We needed a second door. First one still going strong installed in 2023 into our pole barn. Changed batteries twice. Now we installed one into our heated fish house converted to a cat house. They were using the fish holes but we need to keep other critters out. We have 4 amazing barn cats using these doors. It has worked great during Minnesota winters too. Only thing that changed was no more instructions in package. You need to use the QR code to look up instructions. The template is still included. ... show more

  • extremely disappointing
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
We ordered and installed a PetSafe cat door in April 2022. This initially worked very well. At the end of November 2022, the LED flashed red, indicating an error. Resetting the cat door did nothing. It was simply defective. In December 2022 we ordered and installed a new PetSafe cat door. This worked until August 2023 and then showed the same error as the first cat door. I tried to contact the manufacturer via the link on Amazon and ended up in the USA. The US representative told me that they were not responsible for the Philippines, where I installed the cat door, and referred me to the Australian representative. I then contacted the Australian representative and was contacted by the Customer Care Team Leader. He tried very hard and I sent films and photos so that he could see what was not working and that it was not possible to reset the electronics. Finally, it was said that it appears that a serious malfunction has occurred. Although the warranty period has not expired and although this is the second time the same problem has occurred, warranty replacement does not appear to be possible. I was referred to Amazon by the Australian representative and on Amazon you are then sent again to the US representative, which seems to be absolutely useless. Unfortunately, the PetSafe cat door turned out to be a big disappointment. ... show more

  • Absolutely love it!
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
This cat door changed our world! Our cat would not come inside in the evening which resulted in her being stuck outside, sometimes all night. We would call her periodically throughout the night but she would find a place to hunker down and wouldn't come home. Winter was on the way, so we got this door and it is such a relief! She does have to push her head in far and she doesn't really care for the thing, but it keeps her from being locked out, so I'm happy with it! It does click, but I like that because it lets me know she's coming in or going out. The only issue I have with it is that the batteries need replaced often. I would say every few weeks or so. It might be because it is located in the laundry room and we activate the sensor when we go in there. We are planning on buying rechargeable batteries, which we need to do anyway. ... show more

  • Overall good, with some shortcomings
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I installed this product, and then paired the PetSafe key tag successfully. But then I couldn't get it to actually open with the key tag. After reading the instructions very carefully I learned there's a motion sensor that activates first, and lights and LED when motion is detected. I assume this motion detector uses much less power than the tag reader, so it's a two-stage activation for the tag reader to save the batteries. Unfortunately there motion detector never senses movement no matter what I try; the LED never lights. I emailed PetSafe about the problem, and a week later I haven't received a response. I ordered a second unit, thinking the first was defective. It turns out the second one suffers from the same problem. But this time I tested it before I installed it, and it worked fine! Imagine my surprise to find it suffers the same motion detector problem once it was installed. After some experimentation, I have discovered that both doors work fine... but only when indoors!! Whenever either are installed into the outside door, the sunlight prevents the motion detector from working. I think the motion sensor is actually just a cheap photo diode that only senses differences in light intensity. When I test it with my hand outdoors, I'm not blocking enough of the sunlight in the tunnel so it doesn't register a change, and therefore never starts the tag sensor. But it seems to work ok for my black cat so far (has only been a couple days and she's only used it three times), as the cat fills more of the tunnel and blocks more light. I was afraid it wouldn't work in the dark, but so far it has activated and opened at least once in the dark. I think the product could be greatly improved by using a real motion sensor, and also by locking on both sides (this would require some rework to the electronics and sensors, but it would keep raccoons out better). I looked at many, many similar products, but so far haven't found any that seem like they would work better. ... show more

  • Great, just took some getting used to.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I went through a roller coaster of emotions with this item, but the item itself is AMAZING, and does everything it promises. My cat is VERY TIMID, she gets bullied by one of my male cats, so I wanted my bedroom to be a safe spot for her. In order to not isolate her either, I decided to put this door. She was HORRIFIED of it, because of the noise it does when it unlocks. Mind you, we have a catio, where she uses cat doors already, so it was just the noise she didn't like. For the first week, she didn't come out my room. Then, she would leave, but not come in, maybe for 2 weeks. Now, she comes in and out as she pleases, and knows she can be safe in her area. I love it, I'm glad I didn't give up on it, especially since I cut a hole in my bedroom door. ... show more

  • Does not do the job for my cats (read carefully)
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
The advertisement for this cat door is a little misleading. Although there is a two-way option, It only limits chipped cat entry in one direction (not both ways). If all you have is a single chipped cat, this can work to allow your cat to move in one direction and block all others (cats or critters) in the opposite direction. If you have multiple cats and want to allow one to move through the door in both directions and block all others, then this door does not do the job. Pretty much the two-way functionality only blocks unchipped creatures one way and allows all others to move freely in the opposite direction (chipped or not). One can possibly install the door reversed so that the door limits which cats leaves the houses but lets anyone in but you would risk getting wild critters inside your house. Also, the passage is very small and is a little too tight for most cats. ... show more

  • Easy to use, long lasting, works as advertised.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
We bought and installed our PetSafe cat door in 2021. As of 2025, four years later, the door is still performing flawlessly. A+ for durabiility. The door is in an unheated Northeast US exterior location exposed to summer heat, rain, and freezing temperatures in winter, and it has held up to our expectations. Battery life is great - I'm always surprised when it needs a new battery as I can never remember having replaced it last. We installed it in a sash window in the basement by fitting the door into a painted plywood panel, sliding the window sash up, and installing the plywood panel in the window opening. Of course a little air leaks through the small gaps in the door, but it is generally weather tight and does not admit a material draft or breeze. Installation was quick and easy. The one problem we had was that a raccoon figured out how to pull the door open in "exit" mode (ie; it reached into the door gap and pulled the flap open, rather than pushing the flap into the basement. I understand that, for safety, you would want the door to function in "exit" mode in all circumstances. So, I don't see this as a flaw, but its something to be aware of as a possibility. ... show more
