    • Good tension gate, a little tricky for me to adjust.

This gate is relatively easy to lock once you have it at the right length. Unfortunately, the adjustment part is difficult for me; hard to push or pull so the two pieces add up to your desired width. It is not an intuitive process, and I wish I had read the instructions, although I do not remember pulling any from the box. Still, I must have done it correctly because it locked into place where I set it, with adequate tension to keep it there. (I do think a determined child could push it down with concerted effort, like any other tension gate.) In my house, it keeps my grandchildren (3+10m and 22 months) out of the dining room, although they have not attempted to defeat it. They cannot hop over it, or reach the lock arm, which I keep on the no go room side of the gate. My daughter and son in law have a version of this gate attached to one wall at the top of their staircase. Same process to adjust and lock, and it has not been broken or breached in the two years they’ve had it Also worth noting is the way it locks. There’s a pivot arm with a tab that fits into one of three slots. Choose the one that gives you maximum tension. It may feel like it's about to break, but so far it’s been okay, and it’s not difficult to disengage. The price was reasonable, although I think I bought a “used, like new” option. In summary, It’s as good as any other gate I’ve encountered, but it’s worth mentioning that--like any other gate-- it’s not a sure thing,.     • Why pay twice as much for light grey???

I originally bought the light grey one and from the time it had arrived I couldn’t be more pleased. It did take me a minute to figure out the locking mechanism and how to make the gate slide freely to adjust the correct length before you lock the gate in place. Rest assure once the gate is locked it is not going anywhere. Now that I have bought a new house I need another gate ( nothing wrong with the original gate) but I did notice the light grey one is twice as much as the darker one??? Why would I choose to pay $54 for the light gray when I can get the darker one for $25 . I did check both to try to find out why one is double the price and I find nothing different. I will follow up to see once the new one arrives. PS maybe Jeff Bezo needs extra money to get his yacht down the waterfront in Europe. ... show more

    • Great product with a couple of caveats

I like the dog carrier, and more importantly, my dogs have loved it. As opposed to using a crate, this gives them better visibility to their surroundings. There is plenty of supportive cushioning all around them to make them feel safe. My dog (who vomits when I transport her in a crate) did not get sick when using this product. However, the straps that are supposed to tether the dog inside are not sturdy enough. When used with Bruno, the buckle slid off completely and by the end of the ride, he was no longer tethered. With Bridget, she can pull hard enough to stretch out the tether and lean out of the chair, which causes her to change the heater/air conditioner settings or the radio settings with her nose. And they are only 4 months old. I plan to take it to a re-upholsterer (or a shoe repair shop - someone with those big free-arm sewing machines) to see if they can sew in sturdier straps and buckles. The instruction sheet was also confusing - it lists "one main pillow" and the next bullet item says "5 pillows" - but I had five pillows and the 3 largest were the same size. The seller was kind enough to answer a question I had, but even then, the answer was a bit confusing and there was reference to the pillows having Velcro, which I didn't see. I plan to take it apart and see if I can find distinctions between the pillows. But as far as use is concerned, I like the product and the concept. It seems like it could be a long term product that I will enjoy with my dogs. ... show more

This keeps the dogs out and the baby in. With 4 dogs and 3 70+lbs dogs, this gate actually keeps them out and they don’t try to jump. Took off one star because its too short for where I want it. But if they make it longer, I will be back to buy more

Works really well! Until your puppy learns to climb it. We knew these would work temporarily and as our puppy got older, he more than likely be able to jump it.. However, when bringing home an 11wk old puppy in a matter of days, this purchase was great! Shipped quick, was delivered quick, and worked very well until our puppy learned .. not to jump it… but to climb the gates!! Took us a few days to figure out how he was getting out.. but the verdict is.. he’s literally climbing them! So… if gates are going to be permanent for your dog in your home, go ahead and pay the extra money for taller gates you can open, shut, walk through, that don’t have the shapes for pups to climb up! If you’re in a pinch and have a new small pup, these will work well! ... show more
