March 2023 Update: 3+ years of daily use and this cage is still in excellent shape. The gorilla glue repair on the base has held up with no problems. I definitely recommend making it a wheeled plywood base for it to sit on if you plan to move it around, especially with a heavy litterbox. The stability is excellent as two youngest cats use both the inside and outside of the cage as a jungle gym, and to get onto nearby shelves, and they haven’t managed to tip it over! I did have to make them new hammocks that can handle the strain of being used as a playground. Being able to separate them for meals and when the older cat needs some breathing room has made life a lot easier. The cage works well for the two young cats overnight but there is room for the third to join them for an hour or three when strange dogs visit. Jan 2020 I chose the Prevue Pet Products Premium Pet Home over the other cat crates in my price range mostly for the extra height so the cat can get higher than the dogs while they learn to tolerate each other. As I have Borzoi, that requires a taller cage than most that are available. Be warned that this cage is too lightweight to protect the cat from an aggressive dog unsupervised! The package arrived very quickly and looked to be in fairly good shape externally and it was solidly packed to prevent movement inside. Despite this there was a chunk broken off the bottom pan. I had some Gorilla Glue so I used that for repairs and it appears to have worked well. If I was to improve packaging, I would have a sheet of foam between the exterior and the bottom of the pan. The styrofoam packaging did its job and protected everything from shifting but the movement during shipping tore bits off the foam and most people will be happier unpacking with a vacuum cleaner handy to clean up the debris as each piece is removed. The instructions were clear and the crate went together quickly. The wheels included do not match the instructions as they have no brakes to stop movement. I opted not to use the wheels to increase stability. Plus the pan is rather flimsy and I don’t know how well it would hold the weight of a large litter box and a cat repeatedly jumping up and down. If I decide to put the crate on wheels I will probably cut some plywood to fit and attach the pan to that and get larger wheels with brakes to attach to the plywood base. The crate is about as heavy as a large bag of dog food so it is easily picked up and moved when needed. Due to its bulk two people would move it more easily than one. The plastic parts were initially confusing as they look identical but are numbered 1-3. After a thorough look I suspect the numbers on the parts have more to do with production molds than assembly. My decision on where to put the two platforms was dictated by the hinges of the doors. The platforms are roomy and sturdy. All doors open all the way but only because I did not use the suggested layout. The doors are nice and large enough to manage a litter box. They doors are also offset to the right so the left side door hinge opens at the edge of the platform and the right side door opens halfway down the platform, leaving space available for a cat to jump onto the ledge. The latches on the doors are great, easy to use and cat proof. The door panels are the same size as the back panels and could easily be installed so that an upper level door opens to the back. The included hammocks are ok but wouldn’t pass my mother’s construction inspection. I’d have been sent back to do it over. Be prepared to inspect the stitching frequently. The webbing only goes to the fabric corners not through the fabric from one corner to the other and there is a single line of stitching at each failure point instead of the X inside a square or even a second line of stitching for backup. My cat was a klutz and fell off the edge of his hammock. He wants to lean back against an edge that wasn’t there! He will learn or I will make something different for him. To clean litter out of the bottom grooves I vacuum or treat it like a birdcage: Unlatch the bottom pan and remove the cage, Clean the bottom pan and put it back together. Overall for the price I think it’s very good. My cat has climbed it like a monkey, thrown a literal hissy fit, gone from platform to platform and tested out the hammocks. Plenty of room for him to eat and take care of his business and still have room to play in between. He is adjusting quickly and I think it’s good for his mental health as he is already calming down just being able to spend part of the day able to see what is happening instead of being locked away for his safety in the office. Time will show how durable the crate is but I consider my money well spent and recommend it for anyone wanting a permanent safe retreat for their cat.

After reading 100's of reviews, I decided on this 4 level cat cage. I highly recommend the 4 level vs. the 3 level if your cat will be spending a lot of time in it. My cat has anxieties and has exhibited behaviors such as chewing on plastic, rubber, cables, tissues tape etc. If he swallows any pieces, he will throw up a few days later. He had surgery when he was one for swallowing a ponytail hair tie. He will also poo or pee on our beds after we return from short or long vacations. Tried numerous things including more toys, meds, and removing all chewables. We have to keep all doors to bedrooms, bathroom, and basement closed at all times. This is challenging, especially with kids. Also have a dog that likes to eat cat litter. This cage has been really helpful. The 3 doors allows for versatility. I keep the bottom door closed so the dog cannot get to the cat litter. I reassembled our cat tree so it fits perfectly for the cat to jump in and out from the second tier. I purchased one extra shelf and have his food and water set up on the third tier. We keep him caged up at night. That's when he usually gets in the most trouble with chewing things. He has freedom to go in and out during the day while we are home so we can keep an eye on his behavior. He often chooses to stay and sleep in his cage, so we know he is happy in it. The wheels allow me to push his cage to others areas no problem. All hardwood floors. Mostly it's set up in front of the big window. Cage was super easy to setup and seems very sturdy. I purchased the Catit Cat Litter Pan with Rim, Taupe which fits perfectly and blocks the litter from getting messy. I also no longer need to use cat litter bags with this box. Easy to scoop. I have a cat mat under the litter box to catch the extra litter so no mess. Also now have a Litter Genie Plus Cat Litter Disposal System with Odor Free Pail System to collect the dirty clumping litter. No bad scent at all. I change it every two weeks. It's similar to the diaper genie. We were just away for 5 nights and had him stay in the cage the whole time. A sitter came by daily to feed him. In the past, he would always poop or pee on the carpet or bed once we returned home. But this time so far so good! It's already been 11 days since we returned. Fingers crossed. I think he may have found his 'safe place'! I am so pleased with the new setup. Thank you Prevue Pets for making an outstanding product! I paid $163. It's now $144 for prime. If you need it, buy this one. Worth every penny! This last resort really saved the day!

I ordered this cage for its dimensions and because of the vertical space it offers. I keep my cat in here while I'm not at home, since he tries to eat my plants and chews on everything like a dog so I have to watch him. These are my thoughts: First impression: The box was delivered on time. But it showed up dirty and torn open in places. I want to blame it on the UPS guy because he's literally the worst, so I won't take off points here for that, but when I opened the box that was another story. I had seen complaints in the reviews about the styrofoam situation, and I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but I immediately understood what everyone was saying when I saw for myself. It literally just flew everywhere. It seems to me like the styrofoam was at one point a solid object but during its journey had crumbled into a million pieces. Again, part of that could have been because of the UPS guy being careless but it was pretty bad. I ended up using a vacuum extension to vacuum each piece of the cage separately before taking it out of the box in order to keep the mess to a minimum. It took a long time. Now what I DO blame this company for is the weird way in which they put the pieces in the box. It was just awkwardly stuffed in there with no rhyme or reason and made it harder to pull the pieces out and sort them. It just felt like no effort went into the presentation, and that made me feel undervalued. That's obviously not why I bought the product, so it's not a deal breaker for me, but it was a let-down when I had been so excited to get it. The biggest thing that upset me was that the cage actually arrived broken. One of the bars had just snapped in half, and a couple of the other bars were bent. It did not give me the confidence I wanted that this would hold my ADHD cat. I assembled it anyway, because I'm too lazy to return things, but if you want a strong, well made cage I don't think this is what you want. Assembly: The instructions were simple enough. We were missing a piece though, and that was one of the little t-shaped snaps that help hold the cage together. Other than that, it came together easily enough, although I had to force the bent pieces to go straight again for everything to align properly. The broken bar turned out to be on the top of the cage so it ended up not mattering much because the chances of the cat getting snagged on it were low, and the gap is nowhere near big enough for him to escape. The cage seemed pretty flimsy when it was all done. My husband rattled it to test it out, and it held together, but I was still skeptical. The wheels are way too small for this cage. They haven't popped off yet as with others, but I really don't think I can roll this thing around as easily as I hoped I could. You will not be able to use all three doors. The shelves are designed to hook onto three sides of the cage and one of those sides is going to be a door. I wanted the spacing of the shelves to make sense, so I chose to sacrifice the middle door. That means I can use the top and bottom doors. It's alright, but sure makes rearranging things in the cage complicated. I do wish I could use that door. And if I order more shelves, which I want to do eventually, I am worried I will have to sacrifice another door. A lot of people have been complaining about the hammocks. I don't have issues with them (UPDATE below) Maintenance: It's hard to vacuum some spots, but overall I find that routinely cleaning out the cage is not a big deal. And it hasn't given me any problems as far as how well it's holding together. It's been a week. Usage: I was pleasantly surprised to see that this cage was larger than I was imagining, and it made me feel alright about leaving my cat in there during the day. When I put him in there he very quickly took to it and loves jumping from shelf to shelf. It's big enough that I can fit a huge covered litterbox in there, a scratching post, a water fountain, and two cat hammocks as well as a cave style bed and his food bowl and some toys. He wasn't confident enough to get on the hammocks at first, and we were doubtful they could even hold him- he is a small, 6lb cat. I hung them at the top and put a toy up there and he eventually started getting onto the hammocks to get to the toy as part of his parkour routine. It's to the point now where he likes to just lay on the one hammock in between play sessions. UPDATE: One of the metal snaps on his favorite hammock broke off and I had to duct tape it instead, so these hammocks are pretty cheap and couldn't even hold my 6lb cat for a whole week. That being said he still uses it- the duct tape holds it just fine. But in the future I will be buying actual hammocks to replace these. UPDATE: That duct-taped hammock held up for a long time (5 months) and my cat used them so much they were gross so I finally replaced them. They lasted longer than I expected so aside from the one snap that broke in the beginning there were no other issues. My cat also likes to scale the walls of the cage, both inside and out of it. Nothing has broken, and it's proven that it can indeed hold him and survive his antics. Overall it gives him more than enough room to play and chill when we're away. I change the setup every now and then to keep things fresh, and I really have no true complaints other than the first impression I got. It works as expected, and has given me great peace of mind with my cat situation. The vertical space it offers is a big plus, since my cat does not feel the need to climb everything in my house when I do let him out, because his climbing needs have been satisfied, and he won't get chubby having to jump and climb for his food and toys. He likes being in there even when I leave the door open and if you're wiling to go through the trouble of re-assembling it when you sleep over someone's house like I have, it's a great way to bring your cat with you and still keep him safe and comfortable because he gets to bring his home territory with him and he has a place to get away from any other pets that may be in the place you're visiting. Also you look like a crazy person but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

I will start with “I am 20 years as a dog owner, and the first time cats parent.” 6 month ago we decided to rescue two 6 and 7 months old kitties. Neither one of our pups (Boxers) have been exposed to cats. To ensure proper pets introduction we want kitties to have a “safe harbor”. We also were planning to use it as an outdoor In closure when all of us outside. Fur-babies (pups) and Pur-babies (kitties) did amazing, and we had nothing to worry about. They still do, not one hiss or raised paw/claw. Now, back to enclosure: money well spent item. I have researched at least 10-12 different enclosures, and if I will have to buy one again, I will go for the same one again. We are in the South East region which allows us to take advantage of the snowless winters. The assembly was fast and easy: 2 hour job for one person. It took about a week to find the best way to arrange the shelves and 2 hammocks. Despite that we found good placement for all 4 items, it still felt that the rest of the space was underutilized. I was considering to purchase an additional shelf. It seems that quite a few costumers have done so. But during Hobby Lobby trip, I found a fruit basket that could have made a nice swinging “hammock”. So, I got the basket and roll of burlap rope and pulled it through the basket in the way that it provide an additional support and stability. I combined threads and braided the end. The “fruit basket hammock” was secured to the cage with heavy duty zip ties. A small pillow serves as a nice “kitty mattress”. My smaller kitty absolutely loves it. We decided against the wheels that came with the enclosure. The cage is light enough that we did not have any difficulty to go back and forth indoor/outdoor. Hammocks: at first cats were avoiding at any cost. So, I put them tightly and snagged to maximize the tension. Once cats discovered that hammocks were more “stable and stationary”. They start to use them consistently. In two months of consistent use, one of the hammocks clip broke, just cracked in two halves. I purchased a bag CC of small clips and repaired the hammock. Within a week, two strings on the second hammock were ripped off. I had some 1/2 inch ribbon, and re-enforced the entire hammock all the way around. I intentionally left long ends, so I can use them as ties, to tie hammock to the enclosure frame. Personally, ties would have been a better option from the begin with, I wish that manufacturer would switch from clips to ties. Ties provide better control for the hammock’s tension. At the bottom of the enclosure we arranged two different types of scratch boards. Every single items inside and outside enclosure used by cats. It is their place to play and rest. Once we discover that they love to climb it, we throw one of the beds on top. That bed was another Hit. Another thing to add, because we were moving enclosure back and forth (inside/outside), we re-enforced sides with a few small zip ties on each side. You probably can see them in the photos. We added a few hanging feather toys and scratch mat on one of the shelves to entertain the kittens. At the end, despite all the breaks, we all absolutely love it. It is a long lasting purchase.

This product really came through for us and probably saved a life. An evening stroll around the area ends abruptly when we hear desperate animal cries for help. We look across the street by the highway we were walking along and see this pathetic little kitten curled up shaking as cars are whizzing by. As soon as I crossed the street this filthy fluff ball ran over to me screaming for help. So I scooped him up and brought him back over to the other side. Looking around it became clear that he was probably dumped by a car. (There was an empty box next to him as well) When we put him down and attempted to walk away hoping he would go home this screaming and clearly limping tiny mess came hobbling back up to us and our giant Great Dane. He wouldn't stop crying and appeared to be severely dehydrated so we couldn't just leave him to die. We set him up outside with food and water and watched him as he ravenously consumed as much as he could get down within minutes. We did what we could for the night. The next morning we took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a skin infection, and a broken leg. Two days after his release from quarantine I go to clean the litter box and notice there isn't a lot of pee in the box. Oh please tell me he isn't peeing on our stuff. Not too long after, I watch him attempt to pee on our shoes. Then it was the kitchen floor, clothes, curtains. Back to quarantine. OMG, WHAT do we do now? Fortunately, we caught it before he peed on something that couldn't be properly washed. Call the vet, not a lot of help with this one there. So I turned to the Internet. I found a lot of information but no real answers other than the fact that he may never get it right. What do we do with a sickly cat that doesn't like using the litter-box and can't be left outside? Most cats get it right away. This one was sleeping behind the toilet on the plunger and toilet brush that he had just peed on which was inches away from his litter box. The little kitten that doubled in size in two weeks was now losing all his hair and living in our bathroom until a solution could be found. All he wants is to be loved. We couldn't pass the problem onto someone else or he would wind up in the shelter or worse. He can't be an outdoor cat for some time, if at all. After a ton of research and vet bills we decided we had to keep him confined and teach him all over again. We didn't want him to live in the bathroom any longer either. Finally I found this cat home from the company I get my bird products from. This product IS the solution we were looking for. As with most Prevue Pet Products, it had to be put together. I did it alone and it wasn't difficult to do. The assembly took me about 30 minutes to complete. All the pieces but one fit perfectly together. The one piece that I had trouble with was one of the metal connector bars. I was able to use a hammer to gently tap it down into place though. Pros: Easy to assemble Size Matters - room to sleep, play, dine, and use the kitty facilities Hammocks are durable and easy to wash Shelf Liners are easy to remove and wash Spacing between bars is safe Large door openings allow for easy access on each level Provides a go to "safe zone" for your kitty Gives you and your kitty Time to work together Price = good Cons: One of the Metal connectors had to be "forced" into place There really isn't anything I can find that would be cause to dislike this product. Whether you have a problem cat that needs retraining, or a new addition that needs to be quarantined/trained, this product is awesome! If you are fostering or considering to be a foster, you should consider this product. The next time someone says "I don't know what to do, my cat is ruining my belongings" or "I can't keep him anymore, (s)he pees on everything". Tell them about this product.

Updated: We now have 4 of these and they are great. Well built, sturdy, the cats have plenty of room in them. When I put them together, I useties at the joints and a couple of bunge cords to secure the cage to the bottom panel just to be overly cautious - but I think they would be fine without the extra security I add. VERY PLEASED. Older post: This is the second one of these I've purchased and they work really well. We have one that is housing a 20 pound Maine Coon who gives it a beating and it has held up well - 2 years now. Only issue has been one of the wheels will not stay on. It's like the channel that the wheel fits in to is not deep enough. I just put together another one for a small cat - about 8 pounds and it is perfect. I super glued the wheels this time to see if that would help keep them in place. When putting the cage together, make sure you are near an open area with a little space to work. The cage is very well packed but by the nature of the wire walls and the styrofoam padding, the padding tends to shred into tiny pieces and can be a real mess (not knocking the packing job - they do very well - I think it is just the nature of the item). This time I opened in the garage with the door open and near the entrance. Once I had it unpacked, I took a blower and blew most of the packaging out the door. Because I have to pick up the cage and carry it into the house - up stairs - I bungee corded it on all 4 sides and also used ties where the sections sent together. This is a very nice cage.

I have a cat who for his entire life has had some issues with properly using his litter box. He's always been this way since we've had him. He will poop just outside of his box and he pees wherever he wants, only using the box sporadically every once in awhile. He also never buries his mess when he does use the box. I've tried everything; from different litters to different boxes, to watching him closely and rewarding good litter use; I've even discussed the issue with 3 different vets. Nothing has kept him consistently using the box the way he is supposed to. My home is tile throughout because he has ruined many carpets with this issue, the tile hasn't stopped him however. The issue was out of control, we were finding puddles of pee everywhere. So now when we aren't home or when we're all sleeping he stays in the kennel. This has forced him to start using the box! And now even when he's out and about he uses the box on his own! (He still doesn't bury -- but I can live with that) I honestly can't believe the turn around I've seen in him. I thought this would never end, but it's been weeks since I've had to mop up pee! What a lifesaver! He did hate the kennel at first but now he's actually quite comfortable in it and will even go hang out in there of his own free will. We keep the kennel in one spot in our home so I have no issues with the wheels as other reviewers apparently have. The cage is very sturdy our cat weighs about 14lbs and he can move and jump around freely. The platforms are sturdy and hold his weight no problem. The thin piece of fabric on the platforms does come up very easily but that's really not a big deal. Also, I put this thing together 100% by myself in under an hour; very easy to assemble. I did not use the hammocks as my cat is too big for them, I do wish this came with an extra platform instead of the hammocks; but extra platforms can be ordered for about $15 a piece. Overall, this a great product that has literally saved my home and my sanity!

My cats (& even my dog) love this fresh air! If the wheels did not keep falling out, I would give it a better review. I am using it as a way for my pets to get fresh air and sunshine at a condo I am living at. I have it setup outside on my patio, flush with the sliding glass door. I open my sliding glass door, and leave the playpen doors open toward the inside of my house so they can come and go as they please. They are all really enjoying it. I put a flattened box on top to protect them from too much sun. And my dog loves hanging out on the lower level! I bought an extra shelf too (the hammocks are really useless for a full grown cat). I bought it thinking it was versatile for my condo, as I can move it to other spots for variety ... indoors or outdoors (with doors closed and supervision of course.) BUT every time I try moving it the wheels come off! I do not write reviews that are negative, but this needs to be said for those considering purchasing this: Wheels are very poorly designed and I am very disappointed with that. I wish I could return it, but I’m past the return window on Amazon. So it pretty much just stays in one place for now, until Prevue (the company that made it) can resolve this wheel issue. I have been back and forth with them several times over a few weeks. Waiting to hear back from them HOPEFULLY on a working solution. So far they have offered me two solutions that did not work. Thinking positive: I hope they will send out wheels that actually work to all who have purchased this product! Other than the wheels it appears to be well made, sturdy and was easy to assemble.
