If you have the proper tools, installation is fairly easy. Quality is good. My two bone headed dogs learned how to get in and out in a day. Only significant issue is that strong winds , 25 mph or greater blow the door open and then it stays cracked open allowing snow and cold in. I installed this door without the provided tunnel in the kickplate of my pool cage. I feel it's a little flimsy for the $55 I paid. Installation was pretty straight forward, although I had to remove some material from the outside panel where it engaged the inside panel at the three latch points, again because I didn't use the tunnel (for standard thickness doors). It works fine, and our 5 mo old 25lb Australian Shepherd and Beagle mix had no trouble learning how to use it. The three latches work well enough, but the problem is that there is no visual clue for the dog that the door is latched, so our dog just slams into it like it's not latched. Because of this I expect the door will not last long, and I will need to consider an alternative or buy a second one of these for that eventuality. For now we're just going to put something in front of the door whenever we have to latch it, and hope our dog figures it out. Not super convenient for training purposes. ... show more

Our Shitsu is 11 years old and has been using a doggy door for several years. We are finding it hard ri ger ger over her fear of this one. Yesterday the magnet came out of the covering and is someplace in our yard, so it appears that at least this part is not well made. Two keys came with it so at least we had a back-up., We will keep trying. ... show more

    • Easy to install, but the collars are garbage

I received the door and it was easy to install. Directions were really great. The downside to this product is the collars with the magnets for opening the door. Both of the collars latches holding the magnets broke within 4 days of getting it and the magnets are gone now, so now the door doesn't work at all and I haven't been able to find any replacements or find anyway to contact the company to ask them for replacements. Amazon is willing to take a return, but the issue with that is now I would have a big hole in my door. ... show more

We had an older cat door that one of cats broke the lock on. He was a tank of a kitty. We wanted to put in a secure door for our new kittens. All the ‘cat’ sized doors were too small. Found this, bought the medium size, and it works well. It went in easily and the locks are secure. No cat is going to be able to unlock this door! ... show more

UPDATE 11/13/23: Figured I'd wait to install the pet door I purchased to replace this well below average one until this one has failed to hopefully get my money's worth, and that happened this past weekend. The magnetic latch has failed raising all the way to lock the door after entering/exiting, completely making the product worthless for controlling access. The pet door worked for less than 3 months, and even with that I had to source and purchase alternative collar magnets (problem with those noted in original review below). As another reviewer mentioned, the collar "keys" that come with the door have magnets inside. These are horrible quality and do not stay shut, meaning you'll lose the magnet within a week. How do they not test these products? Aside from that, the magnetic collar "key" needs to physically touch just the right spot on the door for it to unlock. Not a great design.
