  • Excellent can opener.
Size: 9.35 Inches
The product was great as are most Cuisinart products. Much better than the hand opener I’ve been using. That hand opener was ok by me but my sister objected to the necessity of holding a manual can opener perfectly oriented at 90 degrees or it would not work well for her. The side opener works really well and does not cause as much debris to contaminate the food. Fortunately, social convention now requires the user to rip off the paper label before recycling the metal can, so you may as well get the paper off before opening a can. • Side-cutting Can Opener
Size: 9.35 Inches
This is a great can opener. I bought it for my mother. She wanted one that did not cut the top but cut the sides not leaving any metal in the can. She loves it. It's still new so I'm not sure about reliability yet but it works great!

  • Cuts most cans
Size: 9.35 Inches
This can opener cuts both aluminum and bimetal cans. It doesn’t open rectangular cans like Spam or sardines. Some cans have deeper rims. It doesn’t open them.

  • Initially, I was a bit skeptical.
Size: 9.35 Inches
For as long as I have used electric can openers, I've always had a central complaint: the resultant razor sharp edge of the lid and the distinct possibility of undetected tiny metal shavings. None of the openers I've used have ever caused me to feel otherwise, regardless of make or model. When I first encountered a side cut opener, I was intrigued. The concept was unique enough to send me to the pantry for a "tin can" so I could look at the construction in ways I'd never imagined before. I determined the sealing method was consistent enough over a number of cans that a side cut should, indeed, cleanly separate the lid from the body leaving no sharp edges and no shavings. The proverbial light bulb came on when I thought of the way copper pipe is cut with a tubing cutter's sharp edged wheel. Upon receipt of the new can opener, I had to resist the urge to open every can I could find. But those I did open were consistently clean. The manufacturer's assurance it would even work on pop-top cans seemed almost too good to be true and in some instances, that is the case. Some can makers stray too far from conventional can sealing to allow the side cut mechanism to achieve a good enough grip to work. The pop-top does get in the way on some cans but they are still pop-tops. I am convinced and my wife is thrilled. She was close to resorting to the old hand twist version just to avoid the metal shavings concern. But the side cut opener works. It takes a couple of cans to get accustomed to can placement but once there, it's almost magic. Give it a try. You'll be amazed. ... show more

  • SKIP IT!! This can opener creates SPLINTERS that stick into my fingers, and could get in the food!
Size: 9.35 Inches
Skip it! I'd thought this was a good can opener. It seems good, until I realized all these metal splinters I kept getting in my fingers were coming from the lids that I'd lifted off the cans I just cut. I hadn't realized that at first; just noticed an "ouch" and then noticed it happened whenever I was done cutting the lid off the can using this new can opener, and it only hurt when removing the lid from the can--pulling the lid off while it's sticky with a glue (?) and saw several bits of splinters pull away, some stuck to the glue, others stuck to my fingers, etc. It got either 1 or 2 of my fingers stuck by those splinters every time! But worse,, some slivers were still attached to the can and the glue on the can! Then I'd pour the contents of the can into a pot, plate, or container, which meant some splinters were bound to be mixed in to my food, without me knowing! Who knows how many splinters I may have ingested! I'm still suffering from splinters in my fingers (I can't remove them.) But now I've just stopped using this dangerous can opener anyway. I guess I won't get any that cuts the lid off in that "safe" way, since I can't trust those types. Sad. And very annoying! Wasted my money! ... show more
