Update 12-23-25: Well, it's been over two years since I purchased my Kitchen Mama can opener. I'm still using it almost every day and it works as well today as the day I first opened the box. I love this thing. It has helped make it easier to continue making healthy home cooked meals for my husband and I and I am very grateful to Kitchen Mama for helping make that happen. Every senior out there should have one of these. Edit 9-22-23: I have had this can opener for almost 3 months now and have used it almost every day. It is still working perfectly. I had to come back and add a comment. I see some reviews saying they the can opener leaves sharp edges. I have NEVER had a sharp edge left by this opener. I just set the opener on top of the can, press the button, and the can opener does the rest. Original review: Let me start by saying I PROMISE to come back and edit this review if ANY problems develop with this can opener in the next year. I am in my late 70s, in a wheelchair, and dealing with several different forms of painful arthritis. I still cook for myself and my husband and try to do as much "from scratch" as I can. That means I open cans on a pretty regular basis. My new Kitchen Mama electric can opener arrived today. I think the next sentence says a LOT. I opened the box, removed the can opener, cleaned it with a food safe disinfecting wipe, installed 4 AA batteries, set a standard size can of chick peas on the counter, set the can opener down on top of the can, pressed the button, and the can open started rotating around the top of the can. THAT'S IT!!! I didn't have to fidget with positioning. I just sat it on top of the lid with the can opening part where I thought it should sit. The can opener does continue to rotate around the lid even after it has completely cut the lid BUT you do hear a difference in sound once the lid has been completely severed. I pressed the on/off button again and the can opener stopped. I removed the can opener and then lifted the lid off. No sharp edges, no muss, no fuss. I have only opened several different sized cans before writing this review which is why I promised to come back and report if any problems develop. This can opener is a life changer for me in the kitchen. I had gotten to the point where I had to get my husband to help me remove lids on cans because it was just too painful for me to do myself. This can opener is everything I hoped it would be and more. Now I just hope it continues to work as fantastically as it does right now. I LOVE THIS THING!!! My aging in place kitchen is just about complete. I have several reacher grabbers, 2 wonderful basket air fryers, a 6 quart Instant Pot, and the best can opener I could ever ask for. Now I just need to find the perfect affordable opener for lids on jars, and an easy to use lemon juicer.

This automatic can opener is FABULOUS! I have had it for about 3 weeks, and it has never failed. You simply place it on top of the can, hit the button, and VOILA! The lid comes off with NO SHARP EDGES! Love this!

Wife bought this cuz she hates the traditional twist handle can opener. She loves this thing though. I rate it 4 stars because it is no intuitive to use. That being said nice you know how to use it. It works really well. Note that this opener cuts the rim of the can off with the can top. It does not cut in the “normal” top inner lip of the can. Cleanly and easily cuts off the can top. Once you get it started it completes the process by itself somewhat automatically! The rounded shape makes it a bit hard to hold if you ask me. It’s worth getting to replace the old twist handle openers.

I love this can opener. I just stick on top of the can, press the button, and it rotates around the can. The only down point, which is minor, is that you have to hit the button again when the opener is done. Then when it stops, you just lift the opener and the can top comes off with it because of the little magnet on the bottom of the opener. This device is a lot more convenient than the plug in can opener and definitely better than the manual wind-up opener. Another great point is the device is small and fits into my drawer easily.

I bought my first one in Feb 2023. It just died, 3/23/26. Normally I would just change the batteries but this time it just died. So I bought a replacement and I will get it tomorrow am. Works great, easy for my hands that have arthritis. And easy for everyone in the house to use.

I am back after two years to report this has been amazing. It works great , batteries last forever in it , and the little metal tool is great for popping the tops off. I am now repurchasing another (I open a lot of cans) as mine has stopped opening the cans and is leaving metal pieces all over. It’s a little loud if you are concerned about that. My hands sometimes swell and this is light enough I can open five big cans of tomato’s in less than a minute. It wipes clean incredibly easy. No food gets splashed and stuck anywhere. I cannot believe how sharp it is and opens cans with a breeze! Two years later I still want another and I will probably return to by more the rest of my life. LOVE
