  • Lots of distance for a dart gun, grip short enough large hands may get pinched by mechanism upon firing.
Wow! Better distance than I ever thought possible from such a little thing. I got this for the kids to mess around with in the yard, and thought this 'cheap little' dart gun would be a good start for them, to see if they had fun without destroying anything. The gun works very well, shooting a soft dart as far or farther than out of any dart gun I have used. In fact, I think it might have about as much range as the old dart gun I used to have (back in the days when lawn darts were considered a fun family game), the one that shot the darts with the hard plastic shaft, and suction cup. However, this one shoots darts with a soft rubber (non-marking) tip, and a foam rubber body, making it much less likely to do any harm to anything or anyone. While it still has the rainbow trajectory you expect from a child's dart gun, our house isn't long enough one end to the other to be safe from it. I can literally hide clear in the back of the house, watching through opened doorways, and dart my wife, clear at the other end of the house, which I paced off to be a bit over 40 feet away. You have to aim high, but it gets there with a little distance to spare. To load, you insert the dart ALL the way in (very important, as the tighter you get it to 'bottom out' the more range you get). Pull down on the little T shaped cocking handle until it goes 'click', and you are ready to go. I know this is just a kid's toy, but for its small size, I am still impressed with its range. No idea on durability, other than it seems on par with other toys of its type that you find these days, and it is working without a hitch so far. My one complaint hinges on its small size, and that is if you are a man that wears size Large or bigger gloves, be aware that the cocking handle jumps upward, into the butt of the handle when you pull the trigger, and can pinch your pinkie finger if you are not careful. Not enough to hurt anyone, but it does sting a little, enough to get your attention. Not a big deal, after it happened to me a couple times, I learned to keep my fingers clear, but annoying enough I knocked it down to 4 stars. For someone with average sized hands or smaller (like a kid) it would not be an issue. ... show more

  • In the Words of an 8 Year Old Nerf Addict
As dictated by an 8 Year Old Nerf Addict: Five stars because it is very good. It's a very good single shooter. Fits in most pants pockets. It's very simple to load, the priming bar is on the bottom, so you just pull the bar on the handle. If you're an adult the handle may be a little small for you, but for a kid it won't be bad if you're the average size for playing Nerf. It's a good gun for a beginner Nerf Player, because it is inexpensive so you can try Nerf without a lot of money. It's very good for the price, Very good for the size. Shoots pretty powerful. Probably about 35 feet. To small for any tactical rail. Pretty good for backup. Fits in the the bandolier belt and the tactical vest. Kinda like the Mega Big Shock. One of my favorite secondary guns. If you have an arsenal and want a single shooter I recommend it. It's not the best Nerf Gun, or the worst, for it's size it's one of the best. Works Great for a side arm. But if there is a lot of people in the battle you may not want a single shooter for back up. For a cheap secondary it can't be beat, but you could also upgrade to larger weapon (for more money) like a Strongarm, or a Hammershot. The cons are that the handle is kind of bumpy. It has holes for your fingers but that is not very comfortable, but it isn't to bad. Since you use it more for back up it doesn't matter. Since it's your secondary, and you don't use it a lot it doesn't matter that much if it isn't very comfortable. ... show more

  • Small, Powerful, and Mostly Undetectable
We started cubicle warfare at my office. This is currently a battle between my coworker across from me and myself. We didn't want to jump right in and get the big blasters so we started with these. The lowest priced, and easily concealable ones. This Nerf N-Strike Jolt Blaster is unbelievably powerful for its size. We have shot at targets of 20-30 ft with great precision. You have to take in the coriolis effect when aiming for targets like a bullseye. The blaster sound is subtle enough that it does not interrupt office activities of other hard working coworkers. The one design flaw that they should fix is the direction of the orange lever to cock the blaster. When you fire this, there is a possibility that your palm could graze it and will not allow for full power. I ended up modding mine to angle the other way. Overall I really like this since its very small and concealable. I added a Command Strip on the side of the blaster so that i can stick it under my desk and can be whipped out in a moments notice. ... show more

  • Great hold-out
Very high play value in this little blaster. It fits comfortably in the hand and shoots quite far and accurately. Good for a hold-out blaster in a Nerf war, but small and simple enough to be suitable for anyone. It performs well but a shot from this won't sting like a shot from a larger blaster (still capable of knocking valuables over, though). When not primed, the Jolt takes up about as much space as a Reflex, but when primed, the Jolt is still smaller than anything but the Secret Strike. Large hands can palm it. You can find this blaster in a pretty wide spectrum of looks and colors, but they all perform the same. They're somewhat moddable but work just fine out of the box. All this is true for anything using a Jolt for its internals, too (e.g. the Modulus blaster stock). If you want more performance and firepower for a similar price, check out the Triad. But if you want the smallest or cheapest 'good' blaster, the Jolt is it. I recommend this blaster! ... show more
