  • So easy to use — a huge help if you struggle with can openers
Pattern Name: Can Opener
I bought this can opener because I always struggle with traditional can openers, and my disabled dad does as well. This has been such a game changer. You just set it on the can, press a button, and it does all the work for you. No grip strength needed and no awkward twisting. The cutting mechanism is sharp and clean, and it opens cans smoothly without jagged edges. The lid comes off easily, which feels much safer than manual openers. It’s also surprisingly quick and not overly loud. The quality feels solid, and the unit is sturdy without being bulky. The black color has held up well and still looks good after regular use — no fading or cheap-looking wear. The removable cutting head is a nice touch and makes cleaning simple. Overall, this is a well-made, reliable can opener and a great option for anyone with arthritis, limited hand strength, or just frustration with traditional openers. I honestly wish I had bought this sooner and would absolutely recommend it. ... show more

  • Handy and reliable
Pattern Name: Can Opener
My hand strength can vary, especially during a rheumatoid arthritis flare up and I sometimes struggle with manual can openers. I had a battery powered opener but was frustrated by how often the batteries died in the middle of meal prep. When multiple burners are going, and I’m hungry, my patience is zero. I love that I can mount a regular sized can onto this and walk away while it opens. I love that I can pop off the top part and attach it to a larger, heavier can and let it do its thing. Small cans don’t always do so well because of the smaller turn radius. It depends on the can. The learning curve on how to attach the removable top to the larger can was steeper than I expected but after a few uses I got it. It holds a charge well, opening multiple cans (I got up to 10 during one Thanksgiving baking/cooking frenzy) without missing a beat or slowing down. It reattaches to the base easily, just pop it back on, and the light at the top tells you when it’s charging. It’s sharper than my manual opener and has a useful lid magnet like most electric can-openers. Cleaning isn’t always easy. The body can be wiped down with no problem but the cutting area has the typical gripping gear and blade and often requires a cleaning toothbrush to get into the nooks. I don’t know if frequent washing means it will need to be greased at some point. So far it’s been reliable and extremely handy. ... show more

  • Fantastic opener
Pattern Name: Can Opener
I was a little sceptical when I got this opener. Battery powered and small. But I am very impressed! It has more power then my old ones! The versatility of using like a stand one or taking the unit to your cans is great! And the size/ weight of the can doesn't matter. Has sharp cutting edge that doesn't leave an overly sharp can edge. Great design, safe and durable. Magnet holds the lid good also. Or you can flip it up and out of the way. This is my new favorite. ... show more

  • This works as billed, except for dented can lid
Pattern Name: Can Opener
Works pretty well, so far. The only problem I've had is with a can with a dented lid edge; then the opener completely balked. It's a bit fussy about the setup on the can, with the portable head, but it works, and I like not having it tied to an electrical outlet.

  • Handy can opener
Pattern Name: Can Opener
This is a nice can opener. I like the fact that you can remove the top part to open larger cans and it will run around the top till it opens up.

  • Convenient and it has options
Pattern Name: Can Opener
My can opener is on one counter, and I can take the top off of this one and move it over by the stove when I’m cooking to open cans. It is very convenient and very easy to use for this old lady.

  • What a great idea! Too bad they missed the barn shooting at their goal.
Pattern Name: Can Opener
I hate to start a review with "What a piece of junk!" The idea sounds perfect! A can opener, gosh, that I can take the business end off! Think any tin of shaped like a rectangle (in our house that would include smoked oysters and sardines). Of all the cans I never could open without the aid of a flat-head screwdriver--sold! I found the unicorn! Oh, heck no! It is completly awkward to use as one tall unit, or the head that can be used separately. I thought that separating head was going to be my savior. It is actually a little harder to hold the head when you cut a can. I'll dig around and find that sardine can picture, and put it up if I find it. The blade cleans up and stays clean nicely, but, while the part doesn't looked bent, nonetheless getting the lid situated and the blade in the proper position was a handful really. We are "blessed" with ceilings that are fourteen feet (on purpose, it seems), point being it has the acoustics of a stone castle. You can hear this nasty can opener in the back bedroom, with the door closed. I'm afraid this will be the can opener we will have forever--appliances we hate the most. Do not consider, do not look and this. I cry because Hamilton Beach was a "go to" brand in my Mom's generation. I am going down to my overpriced gourmet cookware store and throw myself on the front counter. "Please!" I cry! Then beg them to find the best one they have under a hundred dollars while I stand there weeping uncontrollable on all of their dunnage paper to wrap things up. It's barely the start of December and anxiety is setting in. :o :D ... show more

  • That's okay
Pattern Name: Can Opener
It works good as long as you keep it on the housing but if you take it off it don't have enough power really but it's okay
