After double-checking, I realized the drive is indeed brand new, fast, and performing exactly as advertised. Apologies to Crucial and potential buyers for the confusion in my original post. It is fast, cool, in many cases is easy enough to install. It will work in most newer laptops with a free m.2 slot. 2TB capacity is plenty for games school files etc.

I’ve trusted Crucial for a while for their reliability and quality, this SSD is no different. It runs ultra fast, it’ll load up anything you throw at it in an instant. If I were to get it again, I’d go for the heatsink edition just to ensure it stays cool during big file transfers. I bought this for a recent PC build and I think this product has been good in my limited experience. The storage capacity of 1tb is accurate. It has DRAM which is always desirable in drives. Installation was simple and straightforward. It performs at the advertised speeds and does not get hot enough to impact performance. I think there are better options at this price though. Linux itself was having issues keeping it mounted (yes, edited the right files) but I don't think it was the drives fault - it was my specific distro and Steam. I only buy quality parts, like this. Installation was a snap, just like all other NVMe SSD's. Crucial drives have always been highly reliable and I've been purchasing them for 4 years for repair work that I perform, and so far none have failed. The speed of an SSD is always a vast improvement over an older mechanical drive and most of my customer are not gaming and don't need the performance of higher write speeds.
