This 6x6 foot reflective shade cloth is a practical option for areas that need a little help with direct sun exposure. The silver finish gives it that utility-style look that makes sense for outdoor use, especially in gardens, patios, greenhouses, kennels, or over parked items. I like that it has grommets included, because that makes it easier to work into different setups without having to immediately improvise a whole attachment system. The 6x6 size is also useful for smaller coverage areas where a giant tarp would be overkill and a smaller piece would not be enough. This is the kind of product that is especially handy for seasonal outdoor adjustments when the sun starts acting personally. The main thing to check before buying is your exact coverage area and mounting setup so you know the dimensions will work for what you have in mind. I purchased this for a west facing window that quickly goes from "nice summer day" in the morning to "char broiled" in the afternoon even with black-out curtains and DIY "solutions" which brought down the temp to just under sweltering. This 6x6 foot silver tarp is really nice. I got it for my wife, who does historical reenactment most of the summer. She's in canvas tents on and off for months, and the temperature really varies. This tarp is intended to go OVER her canvas if it's excessively hot (and she's not in view of the public, of course, as it is VERY modern looking), or INSIDE her tent when it's cold, to help insulate her from the cold of the ground. It's large, as shown in the picture, and will fit nicely over her canvas tent to help keep the heat off in August. The binding is quite nice. It has many grommets at convenient intervals to allow it to be strung up or staked down, depending on how you use it. One side is very shiny, with a sort of rough texture to it. The other side is less shiny, but still silvery, and a bit more smooth. It folds up relatively well, though it will not go back into the package it came out of. That's not an issue, though. For the price, this is a great purchase. We look forward to installing it this summer.

I don't know what the material is, but it's fantastic! It has incredible reflective properties; is strong, yet is as pliable as cloth. I put a light behind the tarp when I took my photo so you can see the stripes, which allow the fabric to breathe. All four corners have metal grommets so you can tie it to a tree, a pole, or a vehicle; and the hem of the 6x6 piece is reinforced with something like a black vinyl material. All that being said, I must say, EVERYONE needs one of these tarps. I have something similar that I keep in my car, which I use to cover my groceries from the store to my home. On hot days, my groceries don't "cook" in the car. My old tarp is in need of replacement, which is why I ordered this one. This tarp would also be good for camping, to regulate sleeping temperatures; as a kayak or boating accessory, to use as a cover when resting ashore; as well as the excellent recommendations in the listing photos. Once you have one of these reflective tarps, you'll find plenty of uses for it, and wonder why you didn't have one sooner.

This shade cloth has been a great addition to our dog’s outdoor kennel. We needed something to help block the sun during the hottest parts of the day, and this has made a noticeable difference in keeping the area cooler. The material feels durable but still allows airflow, so it does not trap heat underneath. The reflective side helps bounce sunlight away, which is exactly what we were hoping for. It provides good coverage without completely closing things off. Installation was simple using the grommets. I secured it at an angle off the kennel using tent stakes, which helps with stability and should extend the life by reducing strain from wind. It has held up well so far.
