Yep, it's a sunshade: a giant piece of cloth that matches the dimensions and has a couple grommets. I've only had it up for a few days but it's doing its job and has already survived two Florida thunderstorms. It seems like good outdoor material with a nice, bright color (we got the blue) and thick enough to provide decent shade and damage protection. However, it costs well south of $100 (under $50 in my case) and probably should not be compared to a $400+ setup. It's also loosely woven enough to allow some water to pass through, which is a critically important thing if you plan to stretch it flat out like we did. That way the water doesn't pool on top and cause problems. It also allows enough air to pass through to reduce the danger of it becoming a strong enough sail to tear the cloth or pull your anchors out of the wall. The cloth also feels like it will last in the sun, but only time will tell. I was impressed with the stitching at this price point. All the sides were at least double-stitched and feel pretty sturdy. There weren't even any stitching threads hanging loose. A couple notes of interest: *Even the right-triangle version has sides that are curved. This makes it more visually appealing, and possibly more structurally sound, but reduces the shaded area substantially and may leave "gaps" if you're trying to fit it to an inside corner of a building, as we were. It creates little slivers right next to the wall that still get hit heavily by rain and sun. *I deducted one star from the ease of installation because it does not come with any mounting hardware. Mounting kits can be found on Amazon for about $15, or you can piece them together from a big box store for a little less. Remember that at least one corner's mounting should be adjustable so that you can pull it tight again after the initial stretch-out of the first couple days. We went with 3 eye screws, two carabiners (for easy removal) and a few feet of rope. The rope lets us adjust the tension as needed. That's a pretty cheap setup and we had everything laying around anyway. *It's not important, but the color of your cloth may affect the color of the shadow. All-in-all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I may return it, but that would only be to buy a bigger one since I didn't account for the curved edges. ... show more

We needed some shade on our back porch and due to the shape the triangular shade was perfect for the location. It came with all the hardware needed and was easy to install. The fabric seems durable and will stretch as it breaks in...just make sure you have some room for it to stretch a couple inches or get a smaller size and get some cables to run to each anchor point. ... show more

You should know that the picture of the item shows far less curve than the one that is shipped. I wanted to fit a 90° corner. The mounts are on the fence post line and the sail pulled right. The arc of the curve lets too much sun in on the edges. The curve sweeps much deeper than the picture I made my decision from. We relocated our older shade sail to the back porch (it's a tan one) we have had the older sail for over 5 years so we wanted to add a pop of color out front. The old one is still in great shape & still being used. We are really happy with this teal one. Great color the material is super strong! Unfortunately we just got hit with a wind storm last week. We didn't get to take the sail down in time (way to windy and rainy to climb a latter alone) anyways.. The wind was so strong at one point it was enough to catch the sail and the post snapped! The sail is fine but not we have to but all new posts... So yup I totally recommend these sail's! They help block the sun from getting into the windows and offer great shade for sitting on the patio. ... show more

Ordered two awhile ago but because of covid it was late getting here. Fabric is good, it's sturdy so I think it will last a long time. Unfortunately I have not installed them. When measuring between two facias in a small courtyard I forgot about the angle of the triangle and measured too short. My wife said: typical man. Nice shades. Had them for about a year now. Wouldn’t recommend attaching them to your house, unless you had a very good Anchorage point. We used SCH 40 steel pipe and did +/- 3ft concrete footings, where we could dig footings. Where we attached to a concrete slab we poured a concrete podium base using a large bucket from Lowe’s. We didn’t connect them to the house or block wall, as we didn’t want to damage the structures. How we did it seems like overkill but these things need to be under a lot of tension to make them look nice. Overall it was an extremely inexpensive addition to the back yard and here in Vegas, you really need shade. ... show more

I had a specific need on my Arizona patio and this was PERFECT, inexpensive, and I couldn't be happier. The vinyl is stretchy, but the seems are well done and the circular attachments work real well and also are strongly stitched. Will it last more than 3 years in this sun... I doubt it. Its the size and shape we needed. We previously bought a 16x16x16 and found it wasn't going to work. Bought this one and it went up easily. I used some padeyes installed on the house with a caribeener in the middle and ratchet straps on the outer corners. Provides plenty of shade and looks good doing it. Main downfall is I wish the weave was a bit tighter. Primarily bought to divert water from the patio. Even with the sail sloping away from the house, there is an area near the corner that let's a lot of water through. Keep in mind, I did read the description saying this is permeable, but with enough of a slope, I would expect water to run down, not through the sail. I may try some sort of thick sealant to fix the spot letting water through. ... show more
