I’ve run this three cooks so far. First two were with wood chips, and last was with pellets. Pellets are by far the BEST choice when it comes to producing smoke. Filled 1/3 of the way, will produce constant smoke for well over 15 hours (mine is still going at this point). Note that though this is a very pretty item when new, it will look very nasty very quick as the smoke residue drips down the sides of the main chamber. This could be fixed I’d suspect with a sealing lid of some sort. Also, noted that some come with an air pump with a knob, and some with a non-adjustable pump - you don’t need to adjust - you want it running full pump 100% of the time.

The media could not be loaded. The trouble with pellet grills is they take forever to smoke. Smoke pause, smoke pause is the cycle to regulate heat. Puck smoker's do a great job of smoking but poor at slow cooking because they don't get above 200F. Bought this to better smoke with the pellet grill to get the best of both worlds. It's well built, easy to assemble. Usage instructions are non existent but it's pretty simple. I did a blend of 50/50 chips to pellets. Filled it 2/3 full and started it with a propane torch in about 2 min. Smoked great for 3 hours. Unplugged the air pump and stuffed some foil in the lighting port. One issue, you have to drain it periodically. Combustion yields C02 and water. I was shocked at the amount of water. If you don't drain it it will leak everywhere. Overall great buy for what I am doing. Would be awesome for cold smoke.

That is the only cold smoke generator on US market with the smoke cooling and smoke residual separation chamber. This design is the main one in Europe today. It works like a charm! I used pellets and had the really cold and clean smoke. There is no tar or kreosote in comparison with generators without the separation chamber. It requires some attention to keep pellets burning - just blow some air in the ignition hole. I had to do it several times during the smoke cycle (not very often). That is the common trouble with the pellets, probably small dry wood chips will keep burning better. I'm really happy with that cold smoke generator and hightly recommend it! I wold recommend to purchase that silicone tube between generator and your smoking chamber https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RDL44GW because the supplied tube is a little short.

Living in Florida with a passion for cold smoking my own bacon, I thought I would give this a try. Although it came nicely packaged the product itself does not put out the amount of smoke as either advertised or needed to do a decent job. There are no manuals to instruct on how to use nor any resources to learn. Once the pellets are put in thats it. It keeps burning till gone.

I was only able to rate four stars for the following reasons #1 The air pump that comes with it is total junk (this thing wouldn't run an air stone in a teacup) I used the YSSOA 35W 1030GPH pump from Amazon #2 I sealed the crossover tube between the burn chamber and the cooling tower with a silicone high temperature gasket that's made for that particular compression fitting and made a custom gasket out of Hi temp silicone for the cover of the top of the tower as well, and extended the air tube that extends through the tower by putting a 1in piece of the silicone tube on the long side of the tube to increase the venturi effect in the big output tube as vacuum created by this simple arraignment makes the whole thing work (this might have not been necessary with the bigger air pump) . Why go to all this trouble you might ask. Because I wanted the big capacity hopper so I could load it once and forget about it for several hours (during the test run it ran for four hours on two cups of cherry chips). And the fit and finish on this is exemplary at this price point, so much so that I wouldn't do it my self although I do have access to the materials and tools to do so
