I purchased this product for my truck project. The engine compartment and front floorboards were getting hot. I opted for this wrap because it states that it’s made from basalt. I highly doubt that it is, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Be prepared for the wrap to shed lots of shiny threads that itch and aren’t good for your lungs. I gave 5 stars, but I was thinking about 4 stars, because it seems ok. One edge of the roll was very loose in a big whip stitch. My first wrap I had this edge on the outside and it didn’t look great. The rest of the pipes I turned the wrap around and put the bad edge under the wrap. Occasionally long strings would pull out also. After wrapping the first tube ( the headers were removed), my arms were itchy and the bench and my clothes had shiny threads everywhere. I ended up putting the entire roll in a small bucket of water and putting the wrap on very wet. That helped a lot. I bought extra stainless ties from Amazon, as I like the extra security over looks. I’m sure the wrap lowered the temperatures, but as it was hotter outside, it was difficult to tell. I’m glad it’s wrapped, I’m sure it helps and I would do it again. I would probably buy this brand again, as I don’t know what it’s really made of, and maybe it’s better.

So shipping was great it came in fast no issue with that. The heat wrap itself. I want to explain that this is weaved straight instead of DEI cross weaved so it will get messy and have a tendency to unravel itself if you dont fold the ends from start to finish. The fiberglass wasnt difficult to put on especially if soaked in water before applying but be aware to wear clothing that you plan on getting rid of if you are wrapping things underneath the car or anywhere in the engine bay IT WILL GET EVERYWHERE when you are applying on things in the bay. As far as end result it works like it should i drove the car around after wrapped and did the usual smoking but no issues outside of that. When i started the car up next morning and did touch up and small check ups i touched the wrap and its holding the heat in pretty well. Usually you get scorched from doing oil changes or anything underside and the wrap was warm enough to touch with bare hands.

If you. Replace the metal wire ties with a $6 kit of hose clamps from harbor freight this is perfect I was able to do my 2004 Mazda6 header AND my 1982 Yamaha XJ650 With the 2X50 dropped my engine bay temperature SUBSTANTIALLY my euro alternator is protected, works as advertised, 30% the price of O'Riley or AutoZone ZIPTIE YOUR SLEEVES my arms got DESTROYED it is FIBERGLASS

I'm wrapping my headers and/or exhaust, same as you. I went with a less-expensive option because I don't care if they go white. I was able to do the wrap with this product but it lost about 10x more fibers and is a much looser weave than the other roll I bought by SunplusTrade which actually cost less...but it does the job, so it's fine. Better option for $1 less: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVYH66U ($14.99 on 05/27/2025)
