I have a bit of a darker blondish brown hair. Most dyes become way too dark unless I bleach first. This did not. It was exactly as the box claimed it would be. It was a rich deep red and pretty however I immediately decided that it’s a not a color for me and removing it was not easy haha (just be warned). The dye stuck very well with minimal bleeding which was shocking as most reds in the past really bled for weeks. The instructions and everything was very easy to follow. Just definitely make sure this is a color your dedicated to and will like because again, removing red isn’t fun and this definitely was a solid dye that didn’t easily come out. Beautiful for a box dye.

Review from my wife's perspective. I feel like I gave this dye a tough test and it passed with a strong A-. Prior to using this dye I had my hair in a two-tone dye with blue and purple. I waited until those had faded considerably but did not bleach or otherwise "prep" my hair for this dye, instead just dying straight over the faded cool tones and my mid-brown roots. The results were better than I expected, though there is a natural gradient to the color, getting a bit lighter towards the bottom (which I like a lot, to be honest). I liked the gloves being packaged separately instead of being attached to the instructions, since it removes any possibility of ripping either of them. The tube of color squeezed pretty easily into the bottle of activator and shook up very quickly and easily. I have shoulder-length hair and this bottle covered all of pretty well, so I would suggest two bottles if your hair is closer to mid-back or longer. When it came time to wash it out, I was a little concerned that I would look more like a carrot than a cherry. The water washing out my hair was bright orange and got everywhere. My shower looked like a crime scene! Even after three washes it was still running bright orange out of my hair, but thankfully it started to run clear after using conditioner. The conditioner included was very thick, so if you have thick hair like me it may be a challenge to work in to your hair.

This Clairol hair dye is pretty nice. It applied well on my roots, and had minimal skin staining on my forehead area, although it did stain my scalp area. The color took very evenly, although it was used on new growth, and my hair is porous enough to take permanent dyes pretty well. The color was brighter than I expected, I normally use a darker shade of red so there is quite a bit of difference between my roots and scalp now, as this red did not lighten up the darker red in any noticeable way. All in all, it's a decent box dye and color.

Clairol Bold & Bright Permanent Hair Dye offers pretty shades and fairly good coverage (my hair is just past my shoulders, and I actually should have gotten a second box). The dye is easy to use and doesn't smell as bad as some others. It's a good value, and I would probably order it again - Five stars from me.

I dye to hide the gray and alternate from my natural light brown, to lighter brown shades, sometimes blonde, and sometimes shades of red. The Bold and Bright lives up to its name. I've tried some dyes that are hardly noticeable, but this gave me a very bold cherry red. The odor isn't bad and my hair looks much healthier after using it. I've tried some that left my hair feeling like dried hay, but this is very soft and feels nourished. I will definitely be trying other colors from this line.

This hair dye is not my favorite. It was easy to use/apply & it rinsed out well. The issue I had with it is that it was VERY orange on my hair (my hair was dark brown before I dyed it), I was expecting it to be more of a dark red not clown orange. It also died my scale orange. I ended up getting a new color to dye it back because it was that bad. I will not be getting this one again.

This is a very beautiful color. The application was easy and one bottle was perfect for my shoulder length hair. The packaging shows how pigmented it looks on medium/dark hair, but it is not very pigmented for darker hair.. my roots are very red, but the rest of my hair is still dark with the tiniest red sheen. It does not have that bad of a smell as some other box dyes have, which is nice. Overall it is a good hair dye, but I would use this with lighter hair for better results in color.

Pretty vibrant even on my natural hair. I have pre-lightened ends so I focused the dye on them, and they came out nice and saturated. My natural dark brown did take the dye a little so now the brown to red fade is even smoother. I switched between this shade and another in this line for a more dimensional color.
