Received the light fixture in great packaging, however the instructions that came with it were for a completely different, and regular ceiling fan. Thankfully I went to you tube and typed in the fan and found a video on how to put it together and install it. It took a little work and piecing it together, but thank goodness for you tube or we would have ended up taking it apart and putting it back together 3 times. If you get this light/fan - it’s great! It works well, quiet and looks great - but you tube how to put it together and install it before you get started and it will save you some grief.

This fan goes beyond our expectations! We were very impressed, as was our guests, on the quietness of operation and how well the fan blades expand and retract. The air flow is great as well. Installation was a little tricky.. The only thing that could have been better was the instructions, especially how the bottom attached and went together. It took me 3 hours to figure it out on my own because the instructions were useless since it said nothing about that process. Fantastic operation and look though! Very pleased!

Things we like - the style, the color and how the blades retract is amazing! Things we do not like or have had challenges with- 5-60 watt bulbs are recommended for these fans but unless you are placing them on a runway this is entirely too bright. When we received the fans, one of the light kits could not be attached to the fan because the parts provided were not accurate. Luckily we had already unpacked and it and put together another one of these fans so we recognized this immediately. The threaded tubing that holds the light to the fan had to be taken out and cut to size and reinstalled. The electrician who installed the fans charged us extra money for doing this modification.

TL;DR: Fan looks great. Fan speed can be controlled with smart dimmer switch. I really like how this fan looks. As others have pointed out, the instructions for attaching the light fixture could be improved. In my case I have 2 switches installed on the wall, one for light, one for fan. The remote control module is designed to work with 1 wall switch, where the switch powers the entire unit and you must use the remote to set light and fan settings. For my installation I DID NOT install the remote control module and wired the fan and light to my 2 wall switches. In this configuration the fan runs at full speed when turned on. Since this fan hangs above my kitchen table I don't want the fan at full speed all the time. To have more control over the fan speed I installed a TP-Link HS220 smart dimmer switch as the fan speed control. There are 7 small indicator lights on the switch to indicate the dimming level. With 1 or 2 indicators the fan didn't move. With 3 indicators the fan begins to spin slowly and the retractable blades DO NOT open. With 4 indicators the retractable blades DO open about half way. From 5 to 7 you get a noticeable increase to full speed with blades fully expanded. There are some configuration settings within the Kasa app for dimmer levels, so I will tinker with that to see if I can get the full range out of the HS220. I would recommend both the fan and a dimmer switch for DIYers with 2 wall switches.

Fan is gorgeous-looks beautiful! Love the remote. It did take some thought to install, we were fortunate that our light box straddle the beam so we were able to get it to workout. If you haven’t installed more than a standard ceiling fan you will probably needs some help, but it will be worth it. The sellers are very communicative and sends lots of instructions so that was helpful. Love this fan!

This Fan had a great look to it, however install was a complete nightmare. The instructions included had only the fan resemblance to them. Nothing at all was similar to the light kit that is included with this fan/light. Parts that were included were not listed in the parts list or instructions, and the instructions did not specify a clear instruction nor diagram of how to properly assemble what they sell you here. I should have gotten an indication of this dilemma from the start in trying to make the hanger work. I had to stop everything and go and buy mounting screws that would somehow work, because a standard 4" fan mount box will not work with this fan kit. You basically have to make your own mounting solution. Then forget about the steps for attaching the light properly. After much aggravation, wasted parts purchased from Home Depot, I just totally disassembled, repackaged and sent this mess back. I have never been so frustrated with something I bought from Amazon ever. But I have bought several hundred things (and will of course continue). But I guess I was due for something to challenge the nerves,,,, and this was it. So I warn you, be prepared. Maybe I could have figured it out, had I not gotten so frustrated, but then I thought, if this was this frustrating without clear instructions, how could I trust the dependability of the fan working for even a short period. Then they could have told me I did not properly assemble it, and thus not had a chance for a later refund, so I let them have it back.

We bought this fandelier to replace an older ceiling fan in our den that looked great but that never gave off enough light. For almost ten years, we needed a ceiling fixture in that room more for light than for circulation. Recently when we were having some other electrical work done on the house, I added "R/R ceiling fan in the den" to the scope of work and my wife and ordered this. We worried it would be too gadget-y for our middle-aged, non-edgy taste, particularly with the retracting fan blades, but we figured we'd give it a try. The price was right too. Bang! It was delivered right away and the electrician installed it with no problem. it works perfectly! We finally have enough light in our den! In fact, we probably should reduce the bulb wattage a bit, because it's almost too bright. Maybe a dimmer is in order, or maybe it just seems bright because I'm too accustomed to it looking like a bat cave in there. The fan is whisper silent, and the retraction function is subtle and silent. After two weeks of occasional use: highly recommended.
