Read the negative reviews, and they'll all tell you that it doesn't move a TON of air. Most big fans do - this advertises the volume of air it moves, and it's not a lot - know that up front. The blades are relatively thin for the length. I will say that I've turned the fan up to high, and I thought it was plenty breezy, but I just wanted something stylish to help circulate the air more than anything - we have A/C, so cooling the room isn't my real intention. The fan is heavy, but installs just like any other. It DOES have separate wiring for two switches - one for the light, one for the fan on/off. It also comes with a remote. My one complaint about the remote is that the little bracket that is meant to attach it to the wall doesn't really hold it securely, so it moves around a bit when you're pushing buttons. It's clear the bracket was a bit of an afterthought. The blades are reversible and have either a medium dark wood look (what we chose) or a light grey-ish wood look. Seems like one of those two choices would work well in just about any space. The light is a built-in LED. A lot of reviews seem to complain that it's not very bright. I personally wasn't disappointed, but I do have the option of other overhead lights and lamps in the room, so maybe I'm not the best judge. The metal is described as "brushed nickel". I definitely disagree. If anything, it's satin nickel, but I'd say it's verging on polished. Not chrome, but quite shiny. Personally, it fits my tastes just fine, but if you specifically want brushed nickel, you'll likely be disappointed. The fan is super stylish, though. It can be installed right up at the ceiling or with the included short downrod as desired. With eight blades and a span of 62", it's BIG and makes a statement. For reference, our room is about 15'x15' and has 9' ceilings. We installed it to hug the ceiling. I almost didn't buy this as Honeywell recommends a room that's at least 20'x20' for a fan this size, but I think it's just right in our space. Maybe the ceiling height helps.     • A nice fan but it doesn't move as much air as my older Hampton did. One missing part.

First, this is a high-quality fan. I did have a Hampton Bay before and the internal transceiver died. Hampton Bay didn't have a replacement part, so scrap one fan. I was looking for an upgrade and this Xerces model is what I chose. The Pros. It's whisper quiet, easy to install, and has a nice finish to it. The remote takes some getting used to but it's compact and 1/4 the size of my old fan remote. The transceiver is also a separate unit and can be replaced without taking the fan down, which means a failure-prone area of these newer ceiling fans is avoided and I can just order up the parts to fix it. The light is fully dimmable The Cons. I had a missing part, the piece that goes down over the mounting pole to the top of the fan. The fan puts out about 75% on high that my old Hampton Bay did. I also have fiddled with the balance at high speed but I still have a little oscillation in it. That means I'll have to get some small weights to get it to be dead still. It's not a big oscillation may be less than 1/4 inch? Overall I'm happy with it and it was a good value for the money. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Here's the short and sweet: Undersized motor and poor quality control. Looks great, performs terrible. Even the replacement fan is just as disappointing. Full review below! Well, it looks great but, barely works! The fan struggles to get up to speed, especially if you select the highest setting. And even when "up to speed" it barely moves air in comparison to the basic 5 blade fan it replaced. My old, smaller 5 blade fan (50") moved more than twice the air. The motor makes a WAH WAH WAH kind of vibration/hum noise at ALL times; most pronounced when starting up. I was an electrician for many years and I know that sound... sounds like a 20 year old fan motor that's on its way out! I'll attribute it's poor performance to it's obviously bad motor; might even be just a bad capacitor but, not taking it apart to find out. Annoyed that I'm having to take it all back apart, box it up and send it back for a replacement... Really hoping the replacement doesn't have the same issues. It did, however, come with a much nicer remote than what was pictured. Hopefully, the replacement comes with the same remote. Will post an updated review once I receive the replacement... Received replacement fan on 7-14-21: Installed it today 7-19: Unfortunately, I traded one evil for another. This fans performance is slightly better than the last (and I want to emphasize slightly) but, at the cost of now a consistent, low hum. It is better than the intermittent hum of the previous fan though... barely. At this point, it's very clear what's going on here. This fan comes in, I believe, 4 different sizes. Motors are all the same it seems. And instead of using a motor on the upper end of the spectrum, Honeywell did the opposite. I'm sure this fan cranks out the CFM's in the 56" size. But when you swap out the smaller blades for the larger ones, you just can't expect to maintain the same performance. You have to have a more robust electric motor! Oh great, as I'm typing this, the "new" fan is making some very peculiar variations in its audible pitch... *SIGH* Do I really have to send this one back too? Utterly terrible fan.
