Most of the ceiling fans that I've installed in my home came from Amazon and have given me good service. However I recently returned one that I ordered from Amazon because I could not control the fan and lights separately from my wall switches and it was tacky. My delay installing a ceiling fan in our smallest bedroom was that I had converted into my office. Most fans were simply too big. Fortunately my rooms have modern overhead fixture wiring in the ceiling that gives me separate wall-switch control of the light and fan. I dislike remote controls because they are easily misplaced and are, in my opinion, an unnecessary distraction. This fan model has separate, clearly labeled pull chains for the light and the fan and a reversing switch and, of course, separate wiring to control the two. This Honeywell Ocean Breeze ceiling fan could not have pleased me more. Some assembly is required. Although I've installed many ceiling fans, please be advised that it's easy to install the fan blades on the brackets wrong if you're not paying close attention. Read the instructions carefully and then read them again to make sure you get them right before hanging this fan. The only tools I needed were a Phillips screwdriver and a wire stripper. A small snag was that the included wire nuts were too small to connect the fan's stranded wire to my #14 copper wiring. Fortunately, I had larger wire nuts on hand. Needing more light than the two paltry 5-watt LED lamps included with the fan could provide, I removed the two 15-watt LED lamps from the ceiling fixture this fan replaced and installed them in this fan's light globe, which is rated for up to 60-watts. My final result is a handsome fan, right-sized for my small room. It runs quietly even on its highest speed which moves a lot of air, and is perfectly balanced without my adding compensating weights. The two 15-watt LED bulbs barely fit the globe but they provide me with good light. Aside from this fan's attractive appearance and good performance it feels solid, though not too heavy to hang comfortably on its accompanying ceiling bracket. It mounted securely on my existing ceiling fixture box. Amazon's price for this fan was better than I could find for a similar model at any of my local big box stores. From the size of it, I was questioning how well it was going to work, but it's a fantastic little fan. It moves air very well and it's got a great look and a clean, bright fixture (lightbulbs were included!) It's super quiet and balanced right out of the box with no further balancing required. The instructions were a bit hard to parse and very little wiring information. They also don't offer an official installation video that I was able to find, but the one video with 700 views I found on YouTube did a decent job explaining how to do the wiring installation. It was my first time doing anything like this, so more detailed instructions really would have been helpful and saved a lot of time and effort. ... show more

ohhh love this little fan...perfect for a small room. easy to install though surprisingly heavy for the hanging part ( i am a 77 year old woman with not alot of upper body strength) i did put the blades on before hanging just to limit what had to be done on a ladder vs on my lap... no wobbles, everything works perfectly. not sure why others didnt think there was enough light, i found it very bright against a white ceiling. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Perfect fit in our 8'x8' laundry room! The 3 speeds are more than adequate to move the air around. Would probably do a great job in a larger room too. Solid construction, quality parts, fit and finish is really nice. We went with the white blade color showing but the reverse light wood tone is a nice option and looks modern. The two 5 watt bulbs provide illumination for a room this size, but we'll probably step up to brighter bulbs like another reviewer mentioned. Pretty easy to install with 2 people (we're not particularly handy; I dropped the short screws quite a few times). The video has sound, the fan was on the lowest speed and it was virtually silent! Higher speeds are quieter than expected as well. And it doesn't wobble (comes with a blade balancing kit- if you even need it)! I recommend this fan as a good buy! ... show more

I picked this fan because I liked the streamlined style; the size was right for our small room; and I wanted the pull strings instead of the remote-- just to keep it simple. We installed it today. Took less than an hour and definitely helped to have to 2 people. Directions were clear and all the parts were included. I appreciate that the low setting for the fan creates a gentle breeze and isn't so fast that it will keep me up at night or dry my eyes out. The high setting moves plenty of air even though it's smallish for a ceiling fan. The fan is quiet. The light is pleasant. Parts are high quality. Very happy with this purchase, so far. ... show more
