I didn’t grow up using cast iron pots and pans, as family used stainless steel pots pretty exclusively. A few years ago I began my first foray into the world of cast iron, starting with some very beautiful and very expensive enameled cast iron Dutch ovens. After collecting a few of those pieces (and loving them), I picked up a few pieces of plain cast iron. I love these all, both plain and enameled. For me there was a definite learning curve involved, since I knew nothing about seasoning the pans. Fast forward a few years, and I thoroughly enjoy my cast iron pieces! I have an enormous enameled cast iron skillet and a cast iron grill pan, both of which get lots of use. But I wanted to have a smaller un-enameled cast iron frying pan to make things like cornbread and various other dishes in. Enter this skillet! It is precisely the right size, easy to use, easy to season, and at this point quite beautifully non-stick. To me, this is a wonderful, highly versatile and truly useful pan. So glad I got it! I appreciate the grip and handle as well as the pour spout. As with all cast iron, it’s heat distribution and heat retention is fantastic. A seriously good little pan!

It works but it wasn't seasoned properly out of the box. I was under the impression that it was pre-seasoned. But if it was it wasn't very well. Other than that it's like a normal cast iron frying pan. They're always heavy, and it is heavy. Not overwhelmingly so but heavy. It's a good cast iron pan.

The media could not be loaded. I'm thrilled with this Cast Iron Skillet! Seasoning it was a breeze - a quick clean with baking soda, a bit of heat, and a light coating of oil, and it was ready to go. I christened it with some lamb chops, and it cooked them to perfection! The 10-inch size is generous and easily fit a good amount of meat, which was perfect for my meal. Cleanup was surprisingly easy. I washed it with mild soap, heated it to dry completely, and then reapplied a thin layer of oil to maintain the seasoning. The pan comes with clear instructions on how to care for it properly and prevent rust, which is helpful for a cast iron newbie like me. I'm excited to have a durable and versatile pan for cooking all sorts of dishes, from searing meats to baking cornbread.
