This mess kit came with everything you need. Plate, bowl, cup, and all the utensils you need. The bag also holds everything well, though the plastic closure thing on the string broke the second time I took it out to use. I like that there is a pouch to hold the utensils, to make it more organized. . Bottom of the bag is shaped like a tray so things are not sliding and clanking in there. The bag is also compact enough to throw in the backpack. Everyone was commenting how they love the metal material because it's sturdier and easier to clean. But the metal also transfer heat, so if you have hot food on the plate, you will need a towel to hold it, so you don't burn your hands. The kit does come with a towel, I guess it works for wiping the plate and insulatio for the hot plate as well. The only problem I encountered with washing with the mess kit, is that the bottom of the bag is not meshed, so I had to hang the bag side ways to drain the water and dry the content. Great little kit. Has everything you could need for camping or outside dining. On my camping trip, I did find an unfortunate draw back, because it's all metal, anything hot that you put on the plate makes the plate hot to the touch. I didn't think about that before I ordered this set. I didn't pack hot mitts or anything of the sort. I'm not sure I would order this again. If you're looking to get a lot for a little bit of space, this really is a good and light size kit, and can fit pretty much anywhere. Solid pieces. Lightweight. Not small. I use it for work. I don’t like eating out of food storage containers. I love the fact that the utensils have a place to hang it up on hooks if you want. A small magnet hook would be perfect for that.
