We are still in the camp of preferring carpet in some rooms of our house and occasional spills or dog accidents have been a sore spot for us. We have tried several consumer machines and all have been disappointing. So far I am impressed with the Karcher. This machine feels hefty, isn’t overly large, and does a great job of extracting soils and cleaning solution from the carpet. This is the investment, and it's a significant investment if you have a lot of upholstered furniture and pets. We don't have carpet, but it will definitely work with it. It's easy to use, but the correct chemicals and understanding of the process can be learned from videos.
