I got a few packages from Amazon before Xmas and put them in my study for safekeeping. That night I went in to do some work on my laptop, and I smelled something funky. Like a vinegary turpentine smell. I searched everywhere and didn't find anything leaking, so I dealt with it for a few days. Xmas eve comes and I pick up the cage we got for our daughter, and I ripped open the bag of bedding to put down. HOLY SHAMOLEY WHAT A SMELL! I can't even explain it! It was the bedding I was smelling for a few days, just coming through the plastic of the bag, but when I opened it I literally ran out of the room gagging. I had to go back in with my nose in my shirt wearing rubber gloves to throw it in the trash outside. I have NO IDEA what was wrong but I STRONGLY recommend going to a pet store to buy this stuff so you can smell it beforehand. To the seller: I really hope you get some quality control in place. This was horrific.

I’ve purchased this exact product on here and elsewhere and I know what it smells like. It has a slight smell, but it never smelled bad. The last 2 times I received this bedding from this seller the smell was so bad I could smell it through the package. It smelled sour and rotten like vinegar. When I put it in my piggies cage it smelled the whole room up and I had to throw it out. The smell lingered even after throwing it away! Don’t waste your time and money.

Have been using this products for months and was very happy with it. It was soft and absorbed my guinea pigs' sticky urine smell. That was until recently (the last 2 shipments), I noticed that the texture of the bedding has changed. It became more rough and coarse - feels poky on my hands; and definitely not as soft as before. When I opened a new bag, there's a noticeable unpleasant smell. When I look closer, I notice there are little bits of wood chip mixed it - not pure paper. Just not happy with the product. I start using another brand now. I wonder why the manufacturer can't keep up with the good quality of the product. 5 stars to 2 stars. Disappointed.

I normally change my bedding every Weds, last week I got this.. And there was a DRAMATIC difference in odor control. Even the buddy who is boarding them told me there's no stink after 6 days. When I went to check each tub, so much cleaner, no ammonia smell, and I had no mess issues or sneezing issues. It's taken me 4 months to find the ultimate bedding.. This will be a continuous buy!!!

I always buy this bedding for my guinea pig. The product description says ‘30L expands to 60L’. It generally does last me about 5-6 weeks with weekly crate cleaning. It typically breaks off in chunks from the bag that I then scatter into smaller clumps as I spread it around the crate. And it’s relatively soft to the touch. When my guinea pig burrows it fluffs a little more. This shipment arrived yesterday and I cleaned the crate today. I had a little left from my last bag, and the difference between this new bag and the older Bag was striking. This feels very dry and brittle, like little crumpled up pieces of notebook paper. It broke off in crumbs in the bag instead of big compacted chunks that expand when scattered by hand, it did not expand, and I had to use a great deal more than normal. I’m not sure if it dried out and shriveled up in a warehouse somewhere or if the company changed the manufacturing process or what, but for $18, I’m dissatisfied. My pet won’t even be able to burrow in this, and it’ll probably last me less than 3 changes. I like sticking with a product I know I like and can trust, and this is nothing like what it usually is. Update 11/6: I was crazy enough to use this for two grate changes not realizing it was making our guinea pig itchy and sneezy all this time. I’ve been sneezing every time I went to take him out of the crate since I bought this but I thought it was the new hay we bought at the same time. I changed Twix’s Crate today with the remainder of this bag (only lasted 3 changes instead of 6 from the same size bags previously purchased) but as soon as I put Twix in there he started scratching like crazy again and he and I were both sneezing. So I’m taking him with me to Petsmart to buy something better. I will not be buying this again and I will be throwing away the full last third of the bag I used today. So disappointed.

Claim of odor control is BS. Its paper that absorbs liquid and nothing else. If the liquid stinks, such as urine, it still smells like urine. I've been through a lest 30 60L bags with two rabbits that are litter box trained, and this stuff is hit and miss. If you get it, and it is grey, then it will absorb like a sponge. If it is light brown, then it absorbs, but may still leave wetness on the bottom of the litter box. If it is a darker brown, it is completely useless. It will not absorb most of the liquid.

All though I do appreciate this arriving early and being cheap, I do not appreciate that I wasn't told the whole truth about what I purchased. It is labeled as 50L, one would think they are purchasing a 50L bag but you are not. Its the 25L bags that "double in size to 50L". I think you should re-label this correctly so others dont make the same assumptions i did. The only place it says its 25L is in the picture and even then you have to zoom in on it and hope you can read it. Please fix the listing description.
