  • Works much better than expected with immediate results
I've looked at these devices for years and have always been suspicious of them actually working. But, our well water is extremely hard and I figured I'd take a chance. I installed this thing in about 10 minutes and as a test I ran a sink full of water with dish soap before and after - before, the soap barely foamed up and the suds only lasted a few minutes... I plugged it in and let the water run for a few minutes then repeated the dish soap test - not only did the sink fill with soap suds, the suds were still there hours later. You can actually feel a difference in the water with your fingers. The only improvement I can suggest is some beefier zip ties and illustrated instructions - fortunately I had better zip ties and Youtube is full of helpful videos. In conculsion, I'd recommend the device - it works. ... show more

  • Working well
I read quite a bit about electronic descalers, both the magnetic and capacitive types. Reviews and testing were mixed and I honestly didn't think it would work. My main reason for purchasing the unit was to reduce or eliminate the calcium deposit ring in our pool. It's hard to remove and expensive to have it done professionally. We also have calcium residue on shower heads and glassware from the dishwasher. I tested our water and it is not very hard. The only issue we have is with calcium. From what I have read, it won't help with any other minerals or metals. All of the units I looked at are designed to be installed on the inlet water pipe in a basement. We live in AZ, so no basement. This makes installation a bit harder. I bought this unit, because I liked that it was made in Germany and had lots of approvals, such as CE, UL, TUV, etc. At least I could be confident that it wouldn't burn down the house. Since it's not rated for outside mounting, I had to purchase a weather proof box to mount it. Not too bad mounting and we have a electrical outlet relatively close. What would be ideal would be the unit already mounted in a weather proof box with a small solar panel and batteries. We have had the unit installed for 2 months. Our shower head has zero calcium build up in this time. Also, glassware does not have the spotting and rings that they did before. So far, the pool is fine, but it will take several more months of testing before I know that it definitely works there. So, at least in our case, it does seem to work. I'll try to report back again in a few more months with additional observations. UPDATE: I've had the unit for a little over a year. Calcium build-up on the tile of our pool is definitely less. The big positive is a pumice block removes the build-up fairly easily. This is much different than before the installation, when the calcium was almost impossible to remove. Based on this, I would say the unit works as advertised. ... show more

  • Made in Germany descaler, if it's good enough for industrial uses, it's good enough for homes
NOTE: This device will not work if your water contains more than 1 ppm iron or 0.1 ppm manganese. The device is not waterproof and needs to be sheltered where the temperature does not exceed 55 degrees C. Temperature peaks on water heating elements should not exceed 95 degrees C (limescale will form on hot surfaces such as tea kettles). Treated water should be drained or retreated in 2 days (limescale will form on areas of stagnant water such as humidifiers and swamp coolers). This device is not a water softener. It is a descaler. What it does is that it converts dissolved lime that's in the water into lime crystals. The lime crystals will wash out with the water and appear as a fine powder that's more easily wiped away instead of the rock-like limescale left by untreated water. In the process of converting dissolved lime into lime crystals, carbon dioxide is produced which turns to carbonic acid in the water. The carbonic acid will gently dissolve hard scales in the plumbing. The treated water will last for about 2-7 days, then revert back to its untreated state, so it must be drained or retreated within that time frame. This product should help reduce limescale buildup. Instructions: Wrap the two impulse cables tightly into two cylindrical sleeves around the pipe. There should be no gaps between the windings, but the two impulse cables should be separated by at least 1/2 inch on the pipe. The device will work for metal or plastic pipes up to 1.5 inches. Select the program for your pipe type (metal or plastic) and size (up to 1 inch or up to 1.5 inches). This is my understanding of how the device works: A modulated voltage is applied to the cables to induce a modulated electric field in the water. The water being dipolar molecules will vibrate due to the changing electric field. The water molecules form a cage around the Ca ions and HCO3 ions, but due to the vibration the cage will break and the Ca will react with the HCO3 to form CaCO3 (crystalized lime) and CO2. The CO2 will form carbonic acid in the water. The carbonic acid will then dissolve the lime scales in the plumbing, while the crystallized lime will just wash away with the water. The product is made by Christiani Wassertechnik in Germany. They make bigger versions of this product for industrial use (hotels, food processing, air conditioning, etc.). The industrial versions are sold under the Vulcan brand. The residential versions are sold under the Calmat brand. ... show more

  • Liking it so far. Will see if it actually works!!
I love the fact that this item is small and can be installed anywhere conveniently. It took me 10 minutes to install. I attached it to my house’s main water line. Hoping it will soften the water as they claim. Will update the review in a few weeks or when I notice a difference in the water texture, whichever comes first. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼 Update on Jan 9th, 2023: I waited but didn't notice any difference in the softness of the water. Disclaimer: No user error as I followed the manufacturer's precise instructions. Good luck! ... show more
