After extensive research, I chose this 50Amp charging station, and I'm so glad I did. The hardware feels premium and professional once installed on my garage wall. The 25FT cable is thick, flexible even in colder weather, and manages nicely without tangling. Setup was simple for my electrician who commented on the well-designed terminals for the hardwired connection. It's been running perfectly for several weeks, charging my car quickly and silently. I no longer have any "range anxiety" as my vehicle is always ready to go each morning. While I initially wasn't sure I needed the smart features, the WiFi app has been a nice bonus for tracking energy usage. Overall, this charger delivers exceptional value for its power and features. I put up the in about two minutes, and it was properly installed to a 70 amp breaker. Its ability to be set up to plug and charge even in the event of an internet outage or to schedule charging for off-peak hours is something I adore. Before you begin charging, you may also simply adjust the charging amperage. It was charging at 11kWH at 50 amps. Despite the temperature outside being at 110°F, the charger managed to generate 9 KWH at internal temperature. Although it would impact the power of any charger, I personally would not place it in direct sunlight. Regarding construction quality, I appreciate that the charger's footprint on my wall is minimal and that the thick cable is fairly manageable, even though cable length is not a major concern for my setup. All things considered, I am quite pleased with my purchase; it is easy to set up and works well. At best, the app is average. You must figure it out on your own because it only provides you with the most basic information with little explanation. The software is not very fascinating, but it will charge and uncharged when you want it to. Do not expect to learn much from the setup and reports. After a few weeks of use, I am really delighted with this EV charger! The build quality feels sturdy, and installation was easy. With a 60 amp breaker installed, our hardwired 50 amp device should make it easier to pump currents higher than 48 amps. Mounting the device on the wall was the only difficult part. Before we could attempt to hang the charger on the wall, the mounting plate needed to be attached, so we had to make some adjustments. incredibly easy to install. Although it can be a bit difficult to connect the first time, once the software is complete, it is quite simple to use and explore. The horrible timing of the charging and my problems with the Hummer EV have been fixed. For the price, this charger is excellent. It charges rapidly, and the app has a useful feature. It has fared well in the environment thus far, with temperatures ranging from freezing to intensely hot. I suppose it is helpful when put outside and within everyone's reach, even though there is an additional step of swiping a card to begin charging. I purchased a basic business card holder and placed it directly next to the charger because mine is in my garage. The construction quality is strong, and installation was easy. It charges my car far faster than a traditional outlet, and scheduling and monitoring charging sessions is a breeze thanks to the ingenious smartphone connection.

This Calion level 2 EV charger is very basic, but it gets the job done. It uses color lights to tell you if it’s charging or fully charged. It has a nice 25-foot cable, so it can reach all the way around your vehicle if you need it to. It is one that you need to hardwire in, so it takes a little extra time to install if you’re starting from scratch, or if you are changing from one that plugs in. It’s a level 2 charger and charges at a decent speed. I would put charging speed squarely in the middle, it’s not the fastest or slowest. It says you can mount it outdoors, but I still think it’s best to put it under something or inside a garage. The only time I think having one outdoors in the elements is a good idea is when it’s a professional outdoor charger. I do think that it’s expensive for what it is, as it is lacking a lot of features that other less expensive chargers have, mainly a display with more information.

The charger produced 9 KWH at internal temperature even though the outside temperature was 110°F. Personally, I would not put any charger in direct sunshine, even though it would affect its power. In terms of construction quality, even though cable length is not a big concern for my setup, I like that the charger takes up very little space on my wall and that the thick cable is manageable. Taking everything into account, I am really happy with my purchase; it is simple to assemble and functions effectively. The app is mediocre at best. It just gives you the most basic information with minimal explanation, so you have to work it out for yourself. Although the program is not particularly interesting, it can be charged and uncharged as needed. You will not learn anything from the reports and setup. I am so happy with my EV charger after using it for a few weeks. Installation was simple, and the build quality is solid. Our hardwired 50 amp device should make it easier to pump currents greater than 48 amps when a 60 amp breaker is fitted. The only challenging aspect was mounting the device on the wall. We had to make some adjustments in order to install the mounting plate before we could try to hang the charger on the wall. This charger is great for the price. It has a helpful feature, and it charges quickly. With temperatures ranging from freezing to extremely scorching, it has so far performed well in the environment. Even though there is an extra step of swiping a card to start charging, I guess it is useful when placed outside and accessible to everyone. Since my charger is in my garage, I bought a simple business card holder and put it right next to it. It was simple to install, and the construction quality is excellent. It charges my car much more quickly than a conventional outlet, and the clever smartphone connection makes it easy to schedule and keep track of charging sessions. Very simple to setup. When the software is finished, connecting can be a little challenging at first, but it is quite easy to use.

If you need a quality EV charger as a replacement at a reasonable price, or you want to have another unit at your home, business, or vacation home, this will fit the bill. It’s a solidly made Level 2 charger with a 25 foot long heavy duty charging cable. That extra length is nice to have. The charging connector EV plug is the standard Type 1 SAE J1772. It fits most cars in the US, however a Tesla will need an adapter. The charger is rated at 50 amps. The charger unit itself is compact and it mounts easily to the wall. The indicator lights are on the front. They say it’s weather resistant so being out in some rain or snow should be fine, but I’ll keep it protected from the elements the best that I can. The charger will probably need a professional installation for the power. They recommend having a 70 amp circuit breaker with heavy duty wiring for the 240V circuit. That size circuit breaker is higher than those used for most dryers and electric ranges. You can either wire directly into your electric panel with a junction box, or you can plug into a 50 amp NEMA outlet. The charger has no plug included, there are just three wires, the black L1, the white N for neutral, and a green grounding wire on the input cable. There are 50 amp 240V plugs available on Amazon or at most home improvement centers that will need to be wired onto the power cable. The power input cable is shorter at 2 ½ feet. So if you’re planning on plugging it in, you’ll need to have the unit mounted close to the 240V outlet. Other features are the ability to monitor and control the charger with an app on your phone. They have a QR code in the manual so you can do the download. I’ve not tested this yet. I’m still working on getting the electric installation completed with a new circuit breaker and wiring, so I’ve not had the opportunity to use the charger. When I get the charger up and running there will be an update to how well it functions.

concerns & things to check Some chargers sold from overseas may lack U.S.-recognized certification, which could complicate insurance, permits, or safety. Marketing may list “50 Amp / 240 V” but actual usable current may be lower depending on internal design, thermal limits, or local wiring. The EV and cable may also limit current. Thinner cables can overheat or reduce charging efficiency. Many smart chargers depend heavily on app / cloud connectivity. If the manufacturer stops updates or server support fails, features can degrade. See whether the charger can operate in offline mode
