I guess when I read Polished Brass Finish, I thought the clock was metal. I'm not super surprised that it is plastic, considering it was made in China. It fits where I want it on the mantle and is easy to read. Would I order it again, No.

    • A very nice "el cheapo" anniversary clock
I bought this clock to substitute my old Bucherer anniversary clock, which recently began to stop unexpectedly. Since there is no living watchmaker in my town and I suspect in the whole country, who can fix it, I decided to buy a new one. Today all such clocks are equipped with a cheap Chinese quartz mechanism and the pendulum is no longer a part of it - it is a fake pendulum that is driven by its own motor. This is much more beautiful and better quality than my Elgin clock. The pendulum has a much smoother movement. The over all construction of the clock seems more substantial. I expected that it would have a chime to announce the hour like my Elgin. I assumed that all anniversary clocks did. However I was very impressed by how elegant it looks.
