I purchased this bench to use with a set of dumbbells I had purchased. This is an awesome bench and serves it's purpose perfectly. I have no complaints with this bench. The quality of the build is excellent. The cushion for the seating and backrest is soft yet durable. There are pegs to place your feet under for leverage which is nice for sit ups. When lifting with 65 lb dumbbells, there is no shake or wobble in the bench at all and this is on carpet. The bench is very solid. An advantage with this bench over others I researched is that it is capable of incline and decline positions, as well as lying perfectly level. I read some comments about the spacing between the seating and backrest but I just don't see it as an issue in any way. There needs to be some space so the backrest can incline and decline but the space which is about an inch in no way is uncomfortable to sit or lay on. I'm really surprised that this was even brought up in reviews. In addition to the incline and decline functionality, the bench also folds flat like an ironing board to a height of about 9" at it's highest point. There's a handle on one end and wheels on the other so it can be lifted up and wheeled for easy movement or storage. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and due to the awesome quality and engineering of the bench, have purchased a dumbbell rack from Body Solid which I am extremely pleased with as well and have also reviewed.

It is absolutely amazing the gains you get when working out at home. About a month ago I wanted to be able to lift at home. The problem is I live in 1,000 SF condo downtown, and don't have a lot of space. I wanted 3 things out of a bench. 1) I didn't want a low quality bench, that squeaked, or swayed while in movement. 2) I wanted one that had a small footprint, even when fully erect. 3) To be able to fold down so when I entertained I could move it out of the way. Well this bench goes the extra mile on all 3 catagories. It is EXTREMELY well built. Thick metal, that can withstand an enormous amount of weight. Solid welding. The pin handles are nice and large, and they don't fully pull out so you never have to worry about losing a pin. 2 nice large rollerblading wheels to help roll it where it needs to be, so it won't scuff up any floor. It doesn't look huge, even when I have it up my girlfriend hasn't said a word about it. For a bench it is pretty nice looking. I am 6'1 210lbs, and my girlfriend is 5'4" 110, and we both have yet to say anything negative about the bench. The lowest setting also does a slight decline as well for those looking for that. The padding on the bench is quite thick, and for some reason the cat sleeps on it non stop:) When folded down I would approximate the height to be around 5 inches. which goes right under my bed, or in the front closet no problem. If you are looking for a bench I have to give this my full recommendation. The bench came fully assembled, and the shipping was very quick. A Comparable bench that I was looking at was the "Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Bench" The reason I went with this one was - 1) The rollerblade wheels on the are fantastic, and this one folds down. I also thought the SelectTech was a bit of an eye sore. If you have any more questions, send me an email.

My bench was delivered last night, and I used it for the first time today. I will admit that I have never been a gym rat, so my review might miss things that a hard core lifter might notice. Let me say that I am impressed with the build quality. Solid welded construction, pad material seems thick and well stitched. It was packed with a fair amount of styrofoam and a everything was protected by cellophane, so I couldn't find a scratch or dent anywhere. And I looked. The material is like a leathery rubbery material, a little different but nice because it has a kind of tacky texture so I don't slide around. Not sure how it will hold up long-term, but it does seems nice and thick, previous reviewers experienced excellent warranty response in the event it eventually tears. The bench came fully assembled, but it took a few minutes to tear off all the cellophane. It unfolds and folds easily, probably doable with one hand. Let me address the five major concerns people have: 1. Gap between the seat and backrest- I don't see any way you could build a folding AND adjustable bench without the gap. I haven't found a bench that doesn't have this issue, and so far it hasn't bothered me. 2. Zipper rubbing leg- That must be an older model, because there is no zipper on the seat or anywhere else for that matter. The end of the seat is completely smooth. 3. Defects- mine appears to be defect free. 4. Flat seat- I was looking at another bench that had a tilted up seat. The problem with that bench was the seat could not go flat, so when attempting to do any flat lifts, you would only have the length of the backrest to use, and tall people would have their head hanging off the end. My head was almost hanging off the other bench. I figure when you want a folding, adjustable bench you can't have everything, and this worked best for me. I feel that the tackiness of the material and the ability to put my feet up on the pegs made it perfectly comfortable to do incline work. 5. Foot pegs not padded- the foot pegs are wrapped in thin rubber. It would be nice if it was a little thicker, but I prefer it to the giants pads that always roll around and make it hard to hook your feet.

I have been using Body Beast as my workout program for years, and have been using a stability ball in lieu of a bench. I have reached a point where I have maxed out what I can achieve with the ball, so I started researching collapsible benches since I have very limited storage space. This bench was perfect for my needs based on the specs and previous reviews. Once I received it, I was blown away by the quality and stability of it. It is absolutely perfect for my needs. I am 6'1", and I was concerned if it would be too short in length. But instead, I am very happy to find out that it not only accommodates my height, but is also very comfortable to use. Now I can expand on my weight lifting routines and increase the weights without being concerned of pulling a muscle while I try to maintain balance. This bench is very rock solid stable, and very easy to fold up for convenient storage. I highly recommend it and I am very happy with the purchase.

I was looking for something easy to use and store, and of course sturdy. I always start by reading the negative reviews first. If mine arrived with the construction issues reported by the relatively low one star reviews, I'd be peeved too. Fortunately, mine arrived with no such QC flaws. It arrived fully assembled, always a big plus. If I have a complaint about out of the box experience was the plastic bag protection on the seat padding. Both seat sections are attached with the plastic already on. That means you have to either undo screws to slip of plastic cover, or just rip it off and not obsess over a tad bit of plastic remaining underneath the cushions. Not such a bad thing as the plastic protection is guaranteed not to come off in shipping. The item is pricey, but so far I think the price is not horrible compared to other offerings I tried. This item, or at least the one I received, is far more rock solid and sturdy than what my 220 frame plus about a hundred and fifty pounds of dumb bell weights need. It's easy to adjust the back rest angle. The back support bar is robust with little to no lateral sway, and is as easy as it gets to adjust. There is no movement/sag/sway/rattle of any parts that aren't supposed to move at any seat angle and with maximum weight I use (and probably much more, I ain't tryin' to get all swole at 55). One of my requirements for a bench was that it be light and portable enough to easily put away in my home office closet (home office doubles as exercise area). It is super simple to "collapse" for storage, if you can really call it that. All you do is pull a handle to fold the front legs under, and it's ready for storage. This thing is not exactly light, but the wheels all but negate that issue. It doesn't fold in half like some benches do, but I've learned that's a good thing. That means it is rather tall when stored upright, but that's not a problem for me in the closet where I will be storing it when not in use. Although it doesn't fold in half for storage, it folds flat, which I find preferable. I took a star off because the seat is fixed (would be better with an angle or two adjustment stops) and because the gap between seat and back land right where your butt is gonna go for most of the exercises you'll do on this thing. Having said that, In my experience that seat/back gap is the standard trade-off/compromise for all the other adjustable FID benches I've previously owned (maybe three in total over my life). The gap is not terribly uncomfortable, certainly not painful, but it's something to be aware of that you'll have to grow accustomed to. Or, you just tuck a rolled up towel in the gap. I've only just unboxed this thing and used it in a brief trial work out or two, but in that brief experience I'm pleased with this unit. Body Solid has a lesser priced version (by about half) that looks to be lighter weight and probably perfect for ladies or dudes leaner than I, but I believe the extra solidity of this unit is worth the price. I think the wheels are preferable for moving around than would be the lighter weight version sans wheels. Time will tell if it's durable in the long run, but so far I can't see any weak points I can readily identify as future problem areas after prolonged, regular use. I guess the only point of future failure I can see would be the seat cushions and stitching as the weakest point on any work out bench by default, but at present I see no QC or construction issues with the seat-back framing, padding, stitching, vinyl material that leads me to believe premature failure of these areas due to regular use will be a concern, but that's one of those things only time will tell. So far, and it's very, very early, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The price might seem a bit high for people accustomed to bottom-of-the-barrel equipment, but trust me, this is a very inexpensive bench for the quality of construction. They used just the right amount of steel; it's rock solid without being too heavy to easily move around. It won't fit under the common steel bed frames, but the folding design does make it small enough to stick in a closet or such without too much trouble. The foot hold-down pegs aren't padded (which could be uncomfortable for those who want to do weighted sit-ups with it), and it's not particularly well set up for decline bench work (for that, you probably want a bench with foam rolls that go under the back of the knees as well.) Still, for most people who lift with dumbbells and/or a power cage, I would definitely recommend this bench. The design is excellent and the build quality is good, with plenty of steel (nothing wobbly here!) and a nice hard baked-on paint. It sounds almost laughably simple, but a very helpful piece of info when shopping for weight lifting equipment is literally what the item weighs. Scrimping on steel is one of the surest signs of an inferior product. If you find yourself shopping for a bench or power rack or the like, check the shipping weights.

I read all ther various reviews and am glad I went with the GFID225. I wanted something more than an entry-level piece of equipment. It arrived very quickly and set up right away out of the box. This is a very nice piece of equipment; very well put together. The padding is first-rate. This is a very sturdy bench without being bulky. You would really have to spend some $$$$ to get a better bench than this one. The ergonomics of the bench work well for me. It is a good height. The incline/decline positions are right. The gap between the back and seat is acceptable, it is supportive and comfortable. I do agree that the foot pegs for doing sit-ups are a bit out of place. They just don't feel right. However, I didn't buy the bench for that so for my use I still give it 5 stars.

Overall the bench is of good quality. I'm giving it a critical review because the manufacturer's quality assurance process is lacking. On the bench I received, the seat is mounted a bit crooked. I would return the bench for this, but I missed the return window so now I'm stuck with it. Due to a back injury, I wasn't able to use or even unpack the bench for the first month and it just sat in my workout room. I feel that, for the amount of money I paid for this bench, they could have taken care to mount the seat correctly. The logo on the front was also mounted off center. No big deal there--just peel it off. But I think it shows that these things are made very quickly with little quality control. If not for the defects, I would give the bench four stars. While it is sturdy, there is a small amount of play in the bench due to the folding front leg. The bench is also a little high, but not so high as to make it unusable. I also wish the seat adjusted. I knew it didn't adjust when I bought it and I chose this bench as a tradeoff against heavier and more expensive benches, but now that I'm using it I realize how much I took the adjustable seats at the big box gyms for granted. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, but I wish I had been able to exchange it for one that was built correctly.
