The media could not be loaded. Our deck is relatively big 15*24 ft. During summer, it’s covered with full sunlight starting from early morning. With a good coverage umbrella, we can spend lots of time on the deck enjoying sunshine and the small forest in our backyard. Our old umbrellas from Homedepot was broken bc the fabric weathered away in a couple of years. I invested this more expensive one for this summer. I put this up only a couple of weeks. At this time in northeast, it has gone through snow, rain, and strong wind so I can just tell the fabric is much thicker and should last for a long time. The aluminum pole is strong and pretty sturdy. it’s a piece of cake to assemble by myself, though note that I'm tall and strong. The biggest problem, in fact, was getting the box through the house and onto the deck, because it was so long and awkward. The included tools were adequate for the few bolts that needed to be put in and tightened. Mentioning this because the tools included with some items are not suitable. Once it was all together, the umbrella goes up and moves around effortlessly. We have a lot of wind coming across our deck so I'll definitely need to either put weights on the legs or screw the legs to the deck. You might not need to do so, depending on your location. I think I'd prefer for the handles to be held on with bolts rather than by spring-loaded ball bearings. That's my only suggestion for improving the design or manufacture. ... show more

The pivoting mechanism is brilliant. You can cover a vast area without ever having to move the base. The umbrella feels satisfyingly huge. One thing, the weighted base (soled separately) is a MUST. To the point that if you don’t purchase the base the product would be useless. There’s no way the umbrella would stand upright without the base even with no wind. And filling up the base with sand is a time consuming task. It took us about 3 hours. My advice is buy about 6 bags of sand (40lbs each) and distribute them evenly between the 4 parts of the weighted base. Take the one of cap that seals the pouring hole in the weighted base and take it with you to the hardware store and buy the largest funnel that accommodates that hole. And buy 2 buckets and a sand scoop. Have one person pour sand from the bags into one of the buckets, while the 2nd person scoops sand out of already filled buckets into the funnel. When the sand starts reaching the top start pouring a bit of water with a pressure hose so the water helps distribute the sand inside the container. The goal is to end up with a mixture of about 60% sand and 40% water. That will give you about 400lbs of weight in the base and will make it safe to use in most wind conditions, except extreme ones. I was skeptical because you never know what you'll get with Amazon products. However, I am glad that I purchased this umbrella. It works great! It was easy to put together (my husband and I did it). Assembly can be awkward. The product comes in basically three pieces--two cross pieces for the base, a vertical piece which the two cross pieces bolt to and the umbrella assembly itself. You have two choices; assemble the base, lift the umbrella then drop it into the base or lay the umbrella on its side (maybe sawhorses) and assemble the base to the umbrella then lift the whole thing vertical. I chose the lift and drop method but it was VERY awkward for one older person because the umbrella itself is top heavy. I did get it together then found that the piece that covers the connection point was on upside down (third photo) which covered one of the bolt holes. Had to lift out, flip the cover and reinsert. At that point I should have gone to the horizontal insert method but was too stubborn. The first photo shows the weighted base I bought--the amazon version. Easy to fill with water and seem heavy enough for our winds here in the mountains. However, the base crosspieces do come with predrilled holes (photo 4) on both sides of the cross brace and on the top---the top one for a carriage bolt and the side ones for screws I guess. If you know the unit will stay where it is it could be screwed or bolted to the deck or concrete pad. Remove the umbrella in the winter and leave the base installed. To me by far the best offset umbrella on the market! Great slide up easy to use mechanism, the 360% tilt option fantastic to use when needed with the sun though this 11’2 2( got the blue umbrella that works well with my multiple dots rug underneath the table)tier umbrella covers the whole 6 chair patio table.Bought the matching base with 4 individual chambers and filled it with sand using a 10 inch wide funnel to fill, easy peasy as this bad boy doesn’t move at all in high winds, though I will close it up if caddy shack wind and rain,and lightning ⛈ is heading in.Even love how the umbrella folds tight up to the pole with the built in Velcro straps on umbrella which really secured the umbrella in place compared to the cheesy built curvitage type that hangs away to strap! Also major bonus feature I bought The Bluetooth light that just pops in underneath the umbrella and with unlimited music and u can change the colors from your phone and with a great speaker 🔈 to boot! I live at the top of the hill and have a very sunny/windy rooftop so I needed a large umbrella that can withstand a good amount of wind. This umbrella is great! Lots of shade, easy to maneuver, looks really good too. Only two downsides: 1) the aluminum isn’t coated in anything so it can get very hot (although cranks and handles are all plastic so this isn’t a huge deal) and 2) I wish the 11’ 2 tier style came in a couple more color options. Grey or white would have been awesome. The ivory beige I got is fine but a little more tan than I was hoping for based on the rest of the furniture colors. ... show more
