Got this on time but the box was a little beat up. Appeared to be in new packaging inside but sure enough the end of the crank handle was broke off and missing. Otherwise the umbrella was fine and I liked it. But when I contacted BUU about a fix or replacement they said -through a polite email - that Amazon had sold the item and they had no responsibility. (You can't actually talk to anybody.) Amazon has quickly agreed to send me a whole new unit but now I have to pack it up again - boxed it's a bit heavy and about 6-7 ft long - and haul it to UPS. Hopefully the replacement will be ok. But be warned - no manufacturer support on this. Amazon must have bought a bunch of discontinued umbrellas from BUU as this model is no longer even listed on BUU's site. ... show more

    • Metal arms on base are flimsy!

I just assembled the umbrella and am generally pleased with it's quality. It came nicely packaged with all the parts included. But I do have two concerns: First, the metal arms of the base seem flimsy and seem to strain under the weight of the opened umbrella. I have emailed the manufacturer to see if they have a remedy for this. Second, a small plastic grommet needs replacement and I am again waiting for the response. Overall, I would recommend purchasing this product. But I will advise later about how my inquiries were handled. Thatโ€™s the proof of the pudding!! Customer service! UPDATE: Customer service has responded but seem to be dismissive about my concern about the strength of the base. I am told that there is nothing that they will do to help in this regard. ... show more

Similar to other reviews, the umbrella definitely needs weighted supports (I purchased the recommended weights that I filled with water and they work excellent) and also, be mindful when it's windy. You cannot secure the umbrella enough to the post, so if it's gusty, there will be tremendous movement and you need to close the umbrella. That said, the shade is perfect and it covers two of my patio sets when fully open. Sadly, one of my umbrella arms has started to bend so much that it will likely snap - I consider this to be a random manufacturing hiccup and I was the lucky purchaser. Daniel from customer service was awesome when I contacted the company to explain what was wrong. He was responsive, kind and resolved the issue quickly. When my previous offset umbrella bit the dust, I was shocked at how expensive a replacement would be. I found this one, much less expensive than the rest, and decided to give it a try. I've been using it for almost 4 months and am very happy. I was initially worried because the brake on the pole and the movable sleeve were plastic, but they are sturdy. The umbrella has a strap you can wrap around the pole on windy days. It also has a strap to wrap around the umbrella when it's closed (no more using a bungee like on my previous umbrella). Very disappointed with the quality and customer service with this umbrella. Just hoping for a great outdoor patio umbrella, but this does not withstand even the slightest breeze due to its limited stability provided from a Velcro strap to prevent from blowing over and collapsing on itself. Iโ€™d recommend spending the extra money to get one with a stability bar, so you donโ€™t deal with the inconvenience of having to return this one. Unfortunately with my case, we disposed of the box it arrived in and mistakenly opened the umbrella for use a few days later to be disappointed with the results. End result: could not return because I could not locate a box large enough for the umbrella that was under $90 (which is almost the price of the umbrella itself). And to top it off, the frame broke while we were disassembling it. Please advise with your purchase and save your money for something better! UPDATED: ** After receiving and reviewing my case with my 1 star review, the company reached out and provided assistance to accommodate for the situation/inconvenience previously noted. Just a few months in use so not sure what the long term verdict is. Nice value proposition so far; seems like good quality metal parts; beige fabric is more thin and sheer than expected - filters but does not block sunlight; canopy lightly secures to pole with velcro strap, allowing for slight teetering. But for $100 this does a decent job. Note: I did not utilize the provided feet. Bluu Customer service was excellent and easy to deal with -- a replacement plastic collar was received within a few days -Thank you Bluu. ... show more
