Let me start off by saying I wasn’t expecting much for this cover since we had purchased a blue cover at a yard sale however my wife insisted. I was wrong. When we got the cover it was lighter than expected however much stronger than the previous cover. We read somewhere the clear cover allowed more sun through to heat the water so we decided on clear. The cover was easy to roll out and so easy to cut to our oddly shaped pool size, a pair of good scissors worked fine. Very rugged material that would not tear but easy to cut. Once we got the cover in place the temperature during the day was in the mid 90’s and sunny and dropped to the upper 50’s at night. In two days the pool temp stayed in the upper 80’s and didn’t fall like it normally would to the mid to low 60’s to match close to the night temperatures. We got at least another month out of enjoying the pool. Hope it helps to reduce evaporation also. We had a lot of rain, for Arizona, 5 inches within a week and I was worried the cover might sink however it shed the water over to the edges and back into the pool without a problem. Was not affected by wind either. Two bad thins, the pool service requires us to remove the cover befor they will service the pool so we remove it on the day they come and put it back later. The other thing is one of our dogs tried to walk on it and it held long enough for us to get him. The dog had never went near the pool before so please be careful. Excellent product and would recommend it highly.

Like tons of other covers of this ilk, they start to break down after a year and become unusable at the 2 year mark. Warranties do not imply quality. I'm sure these companies just assume you aren't going to use the warranty. As you can see in the picture, the bubbles breakdown first and then the entire cover starts to tear. The pool then begins to get filled with little plastic pieces from the cover that are worse to get rid of than any leaf or insect debris.

This blanket lasted less than two seasons while being on a reel and cover when not in use. They claim a 6 year warranty but read the fine print. They prorate the blanket and charge shipping plus a 3% credit card fee. Right now the blanket is 124.99 on Amazon. To replace it under warranty they wanna charge me 64.23 for the blanket, 45.26 for the shipping and 3% for the credit fee. That's $112 after 2 seasons. If you have a problem after 4 years it would cost more than the cost of a new one to get a replacement through their warranty. I think I'll go with another company next time.

This has extended our swimming season! I was a little skeptical with the 10 - 15 deg claim but it really does work. We have a 16x32 pool, 5.5ft on the deep end. When we first got it, daytime temps were in the mid 80's, nights in the low 60's. Pool temp was getting down to 78 - 80 uncovered, too cool for DW, a bit refreshing for me. After 3 days of keeping the pool covered the pool temp was up to 90 deg... absolutely brilliant! This week the temps have been in the mid to high 70's, nights from 48 - 53 and the pool is STILL 86 deg and swimmable. Since the cover is translucent, we keep it on during the daytime and always cover it back up after swimming. I run the pump with it on and there is no problem with doing that. Another benefit is that it reduces the amount of top off water needed to keep the pool full. We could see the mist rising off the pool after the sun went down and the amount of water vapor rising was incredible, especially on these cool, relatively dry nights here in SC. We've only had to put water in once in the past 3 weeks. I haven't installed the reel yet but it is no problem pulling it out of the pool. I'll put it on the reel next year and just fold it up for this winter. I have no idea how long it will last so jury's still out on that one, but even if it only lasts 3 years it's worth every penny!

I usually buy the blue, 12mm pool cover, but this Year thought I'd try the clear 16mm and see if there are any differences. There are. First of all, my pool guy put it on upside-down by mistake (and trimmed it). I thought, "what the heck. I'll leave it on for a few weeks to see if it works". I noticed the water wasn't warming up much (outside temp averaging at 80), so I flipped it. I had to cut out around the stairs, and so just used this piece to cover the hole left by the previous stair cut after it was flipped. Voila! The pool is now warming up much more quickly. The water went from the low 60's to the high 70's in a matter of two weeks. I should be able to swim comfortably (I like my water in the mid 90's) in a few more weeks if the outside temp continues to stay warm. This cover is a bit stiffer and heavier than the 12mm, but also easier to re-cover. The 12mm was difficult to re-cover if you were alone, as it tended to glide about the pool stuck together in a clump, and took numerous attempts to get it in place. I had to re-cover the 16mm by myself and it just seemed to glide back into place (major plus!). Last, the color. You know, I'm kinda on the fence about this one. Though the blue was kinda blah-looking after awhile, the clear is not see-through, and instead has more of a "white-ish" look. So, if you want that blue water look, maybe you should stick with the blue cover. All in all, it seems to be doing its job (now that the boo-boos have been fixed) and also seems to be more efficient at heating than the 12mm.

Upon receiving our pool cover, we noticed a large tear along the seam that grew each time we uncovered the pool. We mailed Blue Wave Products our warranty form (they claim they offer a several year warranty on their covers). They ignored us. We called Blue Wave Products about our issue, they ignored us. We emailed Blue Wave Products multiple times. They ignored us. For months we have been trying to get in touch with someone from the Blue Wave, and they will not even acknowledge our existence. Blue Wave does not stand behind their products, and they lie to their customers about having a warranty so you'll buy their defective products. No wonder this company has 1-star rating on BBB and on google reviews.
