This is an amazingly easy & quick unit to deploy! Set tripod down, hang sandbag (or shot filled ankle weights for a durable alternative) then stick pole in & raise umbrella, in about 1 minute! Recorded a checker plate manway, baking in the sun @ 138*F w/ an IR thermometer. Deployed this unit, worked for 15 minutes & shot manway again @ 93*F. That used to be my head, cooking like that! A strong breeze was blowing that helped cool the manway quickly but, this umbrella never waivered. It is heavy rip-stop vinyl w/ excellent double stitch bow pockets & fiberglass bows that can flex like crazy. The tripod is all metal construction w/ good quality nylok nuts on all pivot point bolts. The tilt mechanism is smooth & positive locking. Arrived (early) in canvas storage bags but, I cut an 8" PVC drain pipe, capped 1 end & suspended from inside of service van roof w/ plumbers strap. Slides in/out easily.This is the first tool out of the van, no matter how short/long the project will take. If it ever wears out, I will buy another one! ... show more

    • Fantastic value and shade!!
Far exceeds my expectations. I love this! It comes with a really sturdy metal base. Umbrella feels very thick and heavy duty, great tilt function. Have used it out in the Texas heat and it has really helped a lot.

    • Umbrella Good, Tripod not so Much
The umbrella seems well made and sturdy. The tripod is a disappointment. The lower clamp broke off on first setup. The way I plan to use it, it's not enough of a problem to go through the hassle of returning it.

I liked the ease of setup of the tripod and you can anchor it down onto any surface to prevent a (blow away) situation in the afternoon summer storms in Florida. It already took a 40 MPH gust and stood strong while I was working on camera equipment in the field.

This utility umbrella is worth every penny, the summer is on and is brutal, with severe heat and afternoon showers, was able to complete 2 hours of work in the rain one day and in blistering heat the next. Did the job really well and the stand worked well in the windy condition.
