It was easy to install and works perfectly. It can be solar powered or the battery can be charged. We are using the solar feature, so I can’t speak to how long the battery lasts, but the with the solar option, we don’t even worry about it! It comes with a remote control but it also has a timer so you can decided when to have it open and close! The timer is set using a 24 hour clock so it’s super easy to know that it is set correctly for opening and closing. Usually with things like this it’s you get what you pay for, I’ve been wanting to get an automatic door for my chickens for a while but didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg in doing so. After reading the reviews of this product I decided to order it and I have not been disappointed at all!! It comes with a remote so the door can be light sensitive, or directly on the door you can set it for a time to shut and a time to open each day! It has worked perfect since the day we got it and I will continue to reccomend this product to anyone that uses it. Great door! It's sturdy metal, easy to install, and functions wonderfully! I was skeptical of the solar charger for the battery, but it's been keeping the battery charged even on these short and gloomy midwest winter days. Some reviewers have questioned how it would function in cold temps. We had several days around -15 F, and mine functioned flawlessly. I often change the time that I want it to open based on weather expectations for the day, and I love that it's super quick and simple to change the settings. I've heard a lot of complaints from fellow chicken owners about their doors not working well, so I was skeptical about getting one. I've had no problems at all, and I'm so glad that I purchased this! It's given me a lot more freedom to be away from home without having to be there to let the chickens in or out every day. I highly recommend this door. ... show more

Sturdy, easy to install, and reliable automatic chicken coop door. It has been installed and working perfectly for approximately 2 months , even during the very cold days (I bought in late December). The opening is large enough even for large chicken breeds. There are three open/close settings: L-L (Dusk to Dawn - the one we use), L-T (Light to Timer) and T-T (Timer to Timer). Overall my experience so far with this door: great price, good quality, reliability, easy to install and intuitive control settings. Works great, solar panel provides charge even on rainy days. Door is easy to program including the current time, opening time, and closing time. Seems to function reliably and does retract if something is detected when closing. I would definitely recommend!

This is a great automatic chicken coop door with three different settings for open and closing the door- L-L, L-T and T-T. The L-L function is Dusk to Dawn, the L-T function is Light to Timer and the T-T function is Timer to Timer. I prefer the T-T function. The place where the chicken door is in the shade and can skew the time the door should open and close. The T-T function allows me to have more control over the timing of the opening and closing. Door works perfectly. I have had the door a few months now with no issues. Installation was a breeze and took just a few minutes. Definitely recommend! ... show more

Simple, easy to program for auto opening, or manual. Well made aluminum frame. I modified mine a bit to mount on the chicken wire and hardwire it instead of using solar, but comes with everything you need and works great. Been using it on both manual and auto settings for a little over a month and it works great. One thing to note, it doesn’t auto open and close as chickens come and go, the auto program only allows you to set a specific open and close time. No complaints, just wanted to point out that difference from some of the other options. Definitely recommend and would order again! ... show more

I have to say that the door was easy to install and is very easy to program. The first week in use, we had rain/snow/ice and below freezing temps. The door would not open due to not being able to push through the very thin layer of ice that formed on the top. After thawing out, it opened fine. We solved this by installing an awning above the door to provide protection from the elements as it is exposed to the elements year round. Overall impressed with the function and it charges even on cloudy days. Still recommend the product. ... show more
