I purchased this door to make it easier for someone caring for my hens while I am away. We installed it in about 30 minutes; that includes getting our tools ready and everything. I charged it up night before with usb plug: you will need your own usb outlet or a cube, only has the cord. No problems there. I have waited 5 days to write review and can say so far works great. We have had no issues using the time-time method of operation. I know my girls go to bed at about 8:30 (spring hours) so I set it to close at 8:45. As the light increases I will move it up if needed. I set the open time for 6:10 which is still a little dark in their coop but most night predators are back in the woods. I needed it to open a little early so they can come and go easily. I had an issue with my dominate hens and lost 1 because of an attack!!! I know she should be chicken soup but....... Hen house is very roomy don't know why she did it but have never had an issue in the yard with her. This is a life saver in three ways: Predator (inside & out) and for a family that has charge of their care the few times I am away. I will update if we have any issues. Solar panel is working great and I will check the battery level more as it ages. We get good sun from 10am to 5pm in the solar location so good charging level. I must admit has taken time to trust the technology but I love it. Worth the $70 to me so far. UPDATE 7/8/2025 It is still working great!! I am ordering another at the $55 prime deal today! I am installing one to let them into a lower field. Will be installing it on a wire fence with a frame built to install it on. will let you know if second lives up to first purchase.

We have been through several chicken doors and I mean several! This one by far has been the best! I was skeptical at first because I preferred the ones that rolls up, but after trying several of those that didn't work long, hard to program, didn't stay charged up, or have a Longhorn crack the screen with his horn, my husband tried this one. He says it was super easy to program, it has a nice large solar panel, and it just works, everyday, every time 😃

The media could not be loaded. This chicken door is a must have for a low maintenance coop! I used to have an automatic door with batteries, and there was one time I was on vacation and the door is not open because the batteries were died (I’ve changed the batteries before my vacation), and half of my chicks died due to starvation. But this one has solar panel instead of batteries. It’s made of really high quality metal, which so far has not seemed to be bothered by rough use. I’ve been using this automatic door for the past 10 days, and I checked if the build in battery was charged, everyday was 80-90% charge, even when the cloud day! Overall I'd buy another one for my other chicken coop and highly recommend to anyone looking for an automatic door.

Super easy to set up. I just put the open door over my existing coop door that I would manually open every morning and simply traced the opening with a pencil. Then I took a saw and sawed off where I had done the pencil marks and screwed the piece in. Easy peasy. I will say you have to make sure you have enough space for not just the hole of the door but to make sure the door can open once it’s installed. The place I had originally planned for it to go would not work for this reason and likewise I’ve seen people install the door sideways which could be for this reason. My chickens are rather large and I thought they might not fit through the door but they do. Love the design, the fact I can choose the time and change it and have also used the solar power to charge it. I don’t leave the solar power out in the elements except to charge it so I don’t know as to the durability of that part if it was permanently installed. Saves me from having to go out there every morning and night. Did not use the remote so cannot speak to that.
