This is my review of Ckin pet Automatic Chicken Coop Door Solar Powered, Large 9.45”X10.24” Opening. I ordered this chicken coop door for our stationary coop. This coop does not have a door on it since it is in the chicken run which already has a door to prevent predators’ access. As a result, one of the roosters likes to wake up at 3:30am to crow. Adding this door keeps him in the coop and quiet. Setup was easy using the included clearly written instructions. It can be set to light sensing or time, which is what I use. The remote control works well and is rechargeable using a USB-C cord which is not included. The solar panel keeps the door fully charged according to the blue light on the panel. The entire unit is made well and feels durable. The function of the door could not be better. The door opens and closes smoothly and consistently. When it closes it goes down and stays down. Other doors constantly close, hit the bottom and open again, then close for a second time. I have found chickens walk out when this happens. The door has an anti-pinch feature that works every time. Meaning unlike other products that only stop and reverse on contact once this door will retract more than once if needed to prevent injury to the bird. It does include an undesirable feature, at least to me, called a “Infrared Induction Repellent Mode” which is meant to deter predators. It puts out ultrasonic frequencies between 15khz and 34khz. However, I would not use this feature because it may be harmful to your pets. We cannot hear it, but I have read that it could be like a loudspeaker constantly blasting your dog or cat. I avoid using these types of products. I would recommend this chicken coop due to its fantastic function and reliability but would advise against the deterrent feature as it is not necessary since when the door is closed the chickens are safe. I will rate the product 5 stars since it works better than I expected.

If you are married to a woman who says she wants one chicken, allow me to translate that into common poultry mathematics: eventually you will have thirteen chickens, which happens to be the maximum our local rules allow. Thirteen chickens require some management, and one of the things I want automated is closing up the coop safely at night. I am still finishing the installation, but I have already tested the door itself, the solar panel, controls, and opening and closing functions. So far, I am impressed. The solar panel began supplying useful power surprisingly quickly. While I was experimenting with the door manually, the light sensor recognized the available daylight and essentially said, “Sorry, buddy, I’ve got this,” and rolled the door back up on its own. The control panel is bright and easy to read, and the instructions were straightforward. I am mechanically inclined, so I do not want to promise everyone an effortless installation, but the included template makes laying out the opening considerably easier. The package also includes the guides and mounting hardware needed to complete the installation. I especially appreciate having more than one way to operate the door. Between solar power, automatic controls, manual operation, and the included remote, there are several ways to get the chickens in or out when necessary. My one disappointment is that remote. It works, but it feels considerably cheaper than the rest of the system. The housing and button area do not inspire much confidence around an outdoor installation, and I would personally keep the remote protected from weather rather than leave it exposed. Everything else about the door feels more substantial. Once I finish framing the opening and permanently install it, this should remove one more daily worry from keeping thirteen feathered freeloaders safe at night. The door itself has impressed me. The remote keeps it from five stars. Four stars.

Upgrading our coop to this automatic door has been an absolute game-changer for our backyard flock routine. We have a mix of standard layers and a couple of larger Brahmas, so the 9.45” x 10.24” opening was the main selling point for me—every bird clears the frame easily without brushing their backs or hesitating at the threshold. Mounting the unit took about twenty minutes with basic household tools; the aluminum frame feels rugged, and the roll-up mechanism glides smoothly along the tracks without jamming on stray bedding or debris. The flexibility between the light sensor and the timer makes dialing in your schedule painless, and the LCD screen makes programming straightforward without having to memorize obscure button sequences. I was slightly anxious about late stragglers getting caught, but the anti-pinch sensor tested reliably when one of my hens paused halfway through closing—it reversed immediately without harming her. The solar panel has kept the internal battery fully topped off even through a stretch of overcast, rainy days, and the remote control is surprisingly handy for locking things down early from the back porch if bad weather rolls in. It has survived hard wind and heavy downpours with zero water intrusion, finally letting me sleep in without worrying about predators.

This automatic chicken coop door is a great addition to the coop and takes one more daily chore off the list. Installation was pretty straightforward, and it came with the hardware needed to get it mounted and working. The LCD screen is easy to read and the settings were not difficult to figure out. I really like having the option to use either the timer or the light sensor. Being able to have the door automatically open in the morning and close in the evening is incredibly convenient, especially on days when our schedule changes. The remote is also a nice feature because I can manually control the door when needed without having to change the regular settings. The roll up design works smoothly, and I especially appreciate the anti pinch safety feature. If the door detects something in the way while closing, it retracts instead of continuing down. That gives me much more peace of mind when using an automatic door around the birds. The solar panel and built in battery are another big plus. I don’t have to worry about running electricity out to the coop or constantly taking the unit down to charge it. The door itself feels sturdy and made to handle being outdoors, and the opening is a good size without taking up a huge amount of space. This has been reliable, convenient, and very easy to incorporate into our normal coop routine. Being able to automate opening and closing while still having manual and remote control when I need it makes this a really useful setup.

We've unfortunately had rain for about five days straight with even more in the forecast, so I haven't been able to permanently install this on the coop yet. I did, however, set everything up and test the operation indoors using sunlight coming through the window. My first impression is excellent. The door operates very smoothly and has a surprisingly solid, secure feeling once it closes. Nothing about the movement feels flimsy or strained. I was also impressed by the packaging. The components arrived very well protected with thick foam and bubble wrap, and the included full-size door opening template should make the eventual installation considerably easier. Obviously, the real test will be long-term outdoor use, so I can't speak to durability after months or years just yet. Based on the construction and operation I've seen so far, though, I feel very confident about putting this on my coop once the weather finally cooperates. Very promising automatic coop door!

I love that this is perfect, weatherproof, for all season and that the door is a roll up, allowing us to install this in the chicken coop without worrying about the structure and whether it was going to fit; yes, it did. Solar powered, we didn't have to worry about running a long extension cord or wiring the coop for electricity. I love that it came with a remote, though we have programmed it for automatic open and close, now we are training the chickens when they have to be in the coop. This actually gives us more peace of mind, especially if we are gone or busy and don't get to the chickens in time to let them out or put them in, because we know that our chickens are going to be safe from predators in the neighborhood.
