  • Works Very Well for my Tesla
Color: Silver
I use this for my Tesla Model 3 that came with the Charging Adapter. You will need the adapter to hook it up to a Tesla so just be aware of that and you should be fine. Setting up the electrical system to run directly from the fuse box is simple enough in theory, but the wires and space to get the wires in is tight so be aware that you will likely struggle a bit and it will take some time to manuver and make the appropriate cuts. Regarless of that, it is a great buy. Do make sure to keep the tools that are provided as you will need to use them to get in the box. FML that I lost the smaller one and could not find the installation guide to set up the app right away. It still worked, but using the charging scheduling features is a life saver. It also has a way to make your charging station available to others for a fee that you collect. Haven't had anyone actually try it since I got it activated, but I am also in an area where you don't see too many electric vehicles. Either way, well worth the purchase and my tesla at almost 0% battery charges to full within 5 hours and I have it scheduled to charge overnight from 12am-6am utilizing the Super Off Peak time from the electric company. ... show more

  • Stiff charging cable and minor annoyances with the phone app makes this less than perfect
Color: Silver
**Update 2/26/23** Charging has been rock steady with no hiccups. -Wifi disconnects have settled down. No issues since first 2 weeks. -Cost denomination where it was showing Euros on Monthly screens, even though I selected USD. Fix is to change denomination from USD to Euros under settings-set price-Ok. Then change it back to USD and save. Now shows USD correctly. -Charging clock continuing to run even after charge has been suspended. Only way to stop clock is to manually stop the charge on the app (even though the charge has stopped by my EV at a preset battery percentage level). Don't understand why the clock continues to run when charging has been suspended. Two ways to view the start and stop times for a charging session are to setup notifications to alert you via the app when those occurrences happen or look at the charging session graph and touch the graph at the start and stop times to see how long the charging session took. Not well thought out. -Inflexible cable continues to be a nuisance. We've had some cold snaps here and the charger is in my garage. Cable continues to be stiff and unwieldy. Autel responded back to my inquiry and they have no update on the new redesigned cable so, no update there. -Autel also responded to my question about setting up my iPhone to work via NFC on the charger as they advertise it would work but don't have instructions in the manual. I followed Autel's instructions and the iPhone tries to connect but wants to use a card in the apple wallet so I'm assuming I would have to buy a NFC card, add it to my iPhone wallet and then connect it to the charger. I have no pressing need at this point to purchase an NFC card to try it. Still a 3 star recommendation based on the cable and minor app issues. These go on sale often and the sale prices are quite different. If you don't need a charger right away, watch them and grab one when there is a good discount on them. The prices change often so watch them and you might be able to snag one between $400-$500. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Bought this Autel 50 amp charging station (‎Maxi US AC LW12-WH) for at home charging of my Genesis GV60. Nice unit without the glass front as the difference is aesthetics only (Maxi US AC W12 with half black glass cover). Both function exactly the same so if you're ok with the looks, you can save yourself some money and purchase this version. As fas as functionality, this unit is feature rich. RFID card security lock feature if your installing outside, WI-FI connectivity (one of the annoyances), bluetooth connectivity, and a mobile app (with another annoyance). A feature I really like though is the ability to limit maximum charge current to your EV within the app. The maximum the app will allow is 50 amps as that is the maximum output of the charger. Adjustability is then allowed downward in single amp increments to a minimum 6 amp setting. You can also limit the maximum charge current the charger can deliver via a physical "hard" setting within the charger itself. The adjustability is handy if you want to match the output settings of the charger to the maximum input settings of your EV. For instance, my EV has a maximum intake of 11 kW AC it will accept from the charger, which has a maximum 12 kW AC output at 50 amps. So if I adjust the charger to output a maximum of 44-46 amps (43.75 amps=10.5kW and 45.83 amps=11kW), I would be basically matching the kW my vehicle would be able to accept. Cranking a 50amp output would get me no benefit for this EV and cause a little more heat generation which is always best to minimize when possible. Build quality of the unit is very good and have no complaints there. So here are my gripes: (1) Wifi disconnects-During the first 2 weeks, wifi would disconnect causing me to head out to the garage, reconnect via bluetooth and then reconnect to wifi. My wifi is relatively close to the Autel so signal strength is not the issue. I discovered when wifi disconnected, I could close the app and it would reconnect upon re-launching the app. Will see if it gets worse or better or continues. (2) App annoyances-when my vehicle suspends a charge due to reaching a pre-set State of Charge that I set by my EV's settings, the Autel charger stops charging correctly but has a timer for the charging session that continues to run even after the charging session is suspended. Not sure if this is intentional but the timer should stop when the charging session is over. Also, the app shows the cost of each charging session based on a price you set for your electrical costs. Mine shows the cost in Euros, even though I set the denomination to US dollar. Annoying. (3) The biggest issue that knocks this charger's rating off 2 star is the charging cable. It's been noted by other reviewers that it's very stiff. I completely agree. Stays coiled, bent and kinked and wants to fight you at times. I'm on the West coast so I won't have to deal with it when it's freezing outside. If it's this way for me in a warmer climate, I can only imagine the wrestling match in cold climates. I understand the plan is too improve and change out the cable to something more flexible sometime in the near future but I don't have this info first hand so it is what it is for the time being. I may contact Autel and see how customer service is dealing with the cable issue. I'll give an update if there is a change in how this issue is addressed if at all, but if that is a consideration for you and an inflexible cable is a deal breaker, maybe look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Great Charger - Easy to Use
Color: Dark Gray
I was previously using the 110 charger that came with my Kia Niro plug in hybrid. It was supposed to fully charge the battery (which give about 35 miles on battery alone) in about 12 hours. It was taking more like 16 hours. So, for me to get the best use of the batter, I needed to install a level 2 charger at my home. I reviewed the various chargers, and this was the least expensive with the best reviews that I saw. I hired a company to install the unit. It took them about 2 hours. They said there were no problems. It was secured to the back corner of my house; I have a brick house. The installers said there were no problems installing. Now it only takes at most 2 hours and 45 minutes for a complete charge which is great. I also love the app that comes with it. Based on my price per kwh I spend easily 1/3 in electricity from what it would cost to fuel a traditional car that gets 35 miles per gallon. I have not yet gone through a winter but am hoping it stays sturdy through cold weather. I am so happy that I am purchasing a second one and installing one at my girlfriend's house (who lives about 45 miles away), so I can go to and from her house on almost all electric. ... show more

  • A decent unit, but not quite great
Color: Dark Gray
I mounted this charger in my garage. As many others have noted, this charger has a thick and not very flexible cable, and that's in the summer. I can only imagine what it will be like in the winter. I am not very impressed with the app that comes with it. It's not so much the features as the user experience. As a guy who spent many years overseeing the development of software products, this is not very polished. As a practical matter, it turns out my utility does not offer reduced rates in the evening, so I haven't even had a reason to use the various programmable functions. What's more, my care (2019 Chevy Bolt) has enough features in its on-board charging app to cover any situation I care about. All things considered, I didn't really need a programmable charger or one that came with an app. I bought this 48 Amp unit to "future proof" even though my Bolt can only charge at a 32 Amp rate. It works fine in manual mode which is how I use it. ... show more

  • Great value to price.
Color: Dark Gray
Great improvement over the OEM level 1 charger. Charges 25 kW is just over three hours. The charger regulator was set to charge at 40 amps on a 50 amp circuit, max allowed for a plug in install. 70 amp allowed if hard wired. Delivering a little over 8 kW an hour. OEM was roughly 1 kW per hour. I would purchase this item again and would recommend it to friends. ... show more
