The standard charger that comes with it, which plugs into a standard outlet, takes about 18 hours to fully charge from empty. Therefore, it charges at a rate of about 2 miles per hour. This charger has an adapter to plug into a standard wall outlet and charges from empty in about 4 to 6 hours. It's the same outlet. It's amazing. It charges 3 to 4 times faster without hiring an electrician and installing a new box and all that.

I've had this for about 6 months now and have had no issues with it. One of those basic items that just needs to work, and it does. My last two residences both had Level 2 chargers in the garage, which was a nice convenience. I moved to a house that doesn't and I don't want to invest in installing one here. Happily, I have a plug-in hybrid (Ford C-Max Energi) that has a very small plug-in battery. So, when I use a Level 2 charger, I'm full in 1.25 hours. This one takes almost 3 hours. So, this solution is a MUCH cheaper and only slightly inconvenient alternative. The other benefit is that it's easy to just throw it into the car if I ever take a trip.

Charges my 2018 Kia Niro EX PHEV to full (8.9kWh) in about 3.5hrs at Level 1 speeds. I check on it during my lunch break and it’s yet to disappoint.

You need this for your trunk! Don’t get stranded! I bought this to use when traveling and staying with relatives or friends. As with any charger 🔌 with a standard plug, it’s going to take several hours or even overnight to get a good recharge. However, it really beats trying to track down charging stations! This saved me from inconveniencing my relatives because I would’ve had to have someone follow me to a charging station and leave my car unattended for hours. (Not to mention the safety aspect leaving car unattended, even at a “quick charge” station in an unfamiliar town.) This will charge you up enough to get from a relative’s or friend’s house to a quick charge station without worry. You could even plug it in at a convenience store or even a police/fire station in an emergency. I’m sure they would understand and let you use some electricity. It’s easy to use and goes back in the included case/bag. It’s smaller than a carry on! It’s a must have if you own an EV and don’t want to spend $1,000 on the manufacturer brand. (This works on all EV’s except Teslas, but I think there are adapters for that too on Amazon.) I also know it works for Volvo vehicles.

If you don’t need a smart charger and all the expense that comes along with it, just get this. It’s a great charger that costs a fraction of what you’d pay for a smart one. Just one thing to note - this is a 16A charger, so it HAS to be on a 20A breaker even though the 120V plug is a 15A. It does actually charge right at 16A, so you need that overhead. I was pleasantly surprised at how flexible the cord is, even down to 13F temps. The charger hangs securely on a standard drywall screw (which you will want to do so the outlet and plug doesn’t get tugged on). I was cautious and watched this pretty closely the first couple times charging. There were no issues, and the Leaf charged faster than the stock charger. The car side of the cable seems to be well made, and isn’t some lightweight plastic garbage. The cap fits securely and is made out of a nice rubber material.

This was an excellent replacement for our old charger that died. Quick delivery and works great. Great quality. It plugs into our garage and charges our VW Golf, with no problems. I like that it has a protective cover, so when not plugged into the car it is protected from rain, dust, etc. The only downside is that the cord is barely long enough, so we have to park right up against the garage. So an improvement would be a longer cord. But it still reaches, and charges great, so I would buy it again. Reliable and worked perfect for our needs.
