I bought this to charge an X5 45e when I'm on the go. I chose it specifically because it's a level 1 charger. That's very important because you're not likely to find 240-volt outlet when you're on the road. Being a level 1 charger, it's not the fastest-charging product in the world, but that's not what its job is. Its job is to safely charge an EV from a regular household 120V outlet. There are Level 2 chargers out there that claim to work with regular outlets, and they do... except that the wires get very hot. Not exactly reassuring, especially if you're plugging it in at someone else's house or parking garage. Over time, I suspect that both the device and the outlet could be harmed by the amount of current being thus drawn. This unit stays cool when in use, is nicely portable, and even includes a convenient bag for transport. I've left it outside charging the car in the rain several times with no issues. I don't feel like I'm going to start a fire or damage something when I plug it into a regular outlet. Your charging speed will vary on a number of factors- I get a full charge on the 45e in about 16 hours. Do measure your space before you buy- the cord is 21 feet, and there's nothing more frustrating than being a few feet short. Also, you'll want a couple extra feet so that you have some slack- you don't want tension on your car's charging port. ... show more

This charger shorted out within three months of purchase and no longer works. I plugged it in like usual, heard an electric fizzing sound and when I looked at the plug the prongs were blackened and the rubber a little melted and the charger no longer works.

For any EV owners or EV-curious shoppers, this charging cable had been a solid Investment for me thus far. I do not currently have a 220v port at home, so this charger has been necessary, but it still charges the battery on my 2019 Leaf to full in roughly 24 hrs, and charging while I sleep consistently covers for my daily commute with no need to stop at public chargers. Works fantstic, I have a level 2 charger at home but my work has outlets in the parking lot. I purchased this to slow charge while I am at work all day. Have been using for a couple of days with no issue. Charges great at level 1 speed.

Functions at a slow charge rate for my 2023 Chevy Bolt. If I had known beforehand I would have bought a charger that puts out more amps. Takes almost 11 hours to charge my battery from 15 miles up to 245 miles capacity (full charge) from a 50 amp 240 v wall socket.
