I needed an inexpensive solution for holding a golf umbrella for my dog, to keep her cool and out of the sun. It worked great and is easy to stab into the soil without a rubber hammer. Don't use a rubber hammer. It also worked when I needed to stab our large patio umbrella into the grass while grooming the dog. It was heavy duty enough to handle the big umbrella, and the hole was big enough which was perfect. We can put the umbrella anywhere in the yard- over the kiddie pool, over the area of the garden I'm working in, over the bbq area, over something we're building, literally any dirt area! It is so worth the money. It involves almost no assembly which is great. The insert where the umbrella post goes in pops out more than it stays in. These do the job, stays put in the ground well- but the part that holds the umbrella in could be a bit more sturdy. I would buy again for what I’m using it for (shade for plants)

    • Love the minimal anchoring, but hammering in destroys the tops!

These are otherwise great and I would recommend them, but you have to hammer them in. When you do, you destroy the plastic inserts on top. If you take them out, you still warp the crap out of the metal. It's a glaring design flaw, but otherwise much better than other bulky, gaudy, tacky, expensive bases out there. ... show more
