Perfect for the HD user, even works without a TV, as long as you have HDMI connectivity. You will need to provide your own power adapter if your device of choice doesn't have a spare USB port for power. FYI, the manual states that you need a 5 Watt power adapter. I used the one that Amazon sent with my (nonworking) 4K Fire Stick and it was fine. Setup was very quick and you just need your WiFi password which you can use either the Amazon Fire app for Android or Apple to speed things up, or stick to using the remote. Picture quality was great and sound was clear. I also set up closed captions as that's something I use all the time, very easy to do. I think the remote takes some getting used to, but it's OK. Amazon doesn't seem to have as many of the free apps as Roku does, but maybe I just have to explore the Amazon appstore more.

Sincerely thought I was going to have to throw out my 55” tv. It was older and I could not get it to sync with my updated router. I bought this as a last ditch effort to get my VISIO tv back to a smart tv and it worked! The fire stick was able to sync with my WiFi and connect after updates. Thank you!!! It was linked to my account and was cheaper then Roku. The only complaint is that I had to power it by the wall outlet and not the USB on the tv but minor issue solved with an extension cord. So easy and now I have all my favorite streaming apps to watch.

******RETURN UPDATE****** They offered to let me keep this stupid thing while giving me a partial refund of $4. They are basically trying to pay people to keep them ROFLMAO Amazon, y'all just made my point for me. Thanks, but no thanks. ******UPDATE****** The more I poke around in the settings the less I like this thing, and I don't think I've even had it a full week. I can't enable the developer options without creating a developer account. I don't need or want a developer account. I want to enable installations from unknown sources, and that particular option used to be in the now inaccessible developer options. I see now that the installation of apps from unknown sources is not allowed, for "enhanced security." It would have been lovely to have seen that little message before I bought this crap, because I wouldn't have bothered buying it. Amazon, how about you let ME worry about the security of MY device? You know, the device you sent me after you took my money for it? That means I own it, and I get to do whatever I wish with it. Including installing whatever app I want regardless of the source. I don't appreciate having the option for installing apps from unknown sources removed in the name of "security" when it's likely just because someone at Amazon can't handle the thought of people putting apps that Amazon has pretty much no authority over on THE DEVICE THAT THEY PAID FOR. Amazon, you most certainly DO NOT GET TO DICTATE WHAT I INSTALL ON MY DEVICES. And that ridiculous "we cannot detect your remote" message needs to disappear from all fire sticks (both old and new) forever. Apparently the gods have forbidden turning on the TV without immediately pressing buttons on the remote. Y'all seem to think that just because I don't immediately start scrolling through all the uninteresting garbage on the home page as soon as it loads that "something must be wrong with the device!" There's nothing wrong with my remote; it's not too far from the stick that's in the TV, and the batteries are just fine. Stop harrassing people via their TV screens. Newer does NOT mean better. I think I'm going to send this one back and just get a new cable for my old one, which is probably what I should have done in the first place since it still works just fine even though it's 6 or 7 years old. Or better yet, I'll send this trash device back and get a new Roku. I'm just glad my first fire stick was a gift. I do believe I'm finished with the Amazon brand for anything. Amazon.com has grossly overestimated its own importance in the lives of the general populace. I just got this thing today, and I can't really say I'm a fan so far. I'm currently going through all the apps that Amazon so graciously installed on my device (without first asking if I wanted them) and removing them. Why do you assume everyone has netflix? Why do you assume I want all this crap on my device? If I want an app then I know how to search for and download it myself. Channels, News, Sports, En Español, Kids+, Youtube, etc. I don't need or want any of this crap. And the screensaver settings are nonexistent. I want to disable it, but I cannot. And heaven forbid I pause something and go outside to have a cigarette. It'll reset itself to the home screen within 10 minutes (or is it a whole five minutes?), and then I have to go back to the app I was using and find what I was watching so that I can continue watching whatever it might have been. And where did my apps on the home screen go? I'm already getting sick of having to use the search function to find apps that were right at the top of my home screen on my old fire stick. I honestly don't know that I even want to keep this infuriating little piece of trash, because I've done nothing but ask myself why I spent perfectly good money on it since I finished the setup. And just to be clear, I really liked the one I just replaced. My only gripe with the old one was the lack of screensaver settings. I WANT TO DISABLE THE STUPID SCREENSAVER.

Just got this firestick for my tv, it works well. It was easy to install, and came with a usb power cord that also plugs into the tv. It came with a remote and batteries for it, and the remote connected easily. All that was required for setup was to log into my account and enter a code. It did an update immediately, and now it's good to go. I'm happy that I can watch prime video and youtube! And it was a good price

It’s an excellent little gadget – small but very practical. It’s definitely worth it. I’m giving it 4 stars because I found it a bit tricky to get it working at first – I didn’t quite understand how to do it. But once you’ve got it sorted, everything works brilliantly. You can enjoy your programmes in full HD – it works a treat.

I bought this for an older TV that didn't have any smart features, and it completely changed it. The setup only took a few minutes, and everything was pretty straightforward. The menus are smooth, apps open quickly, and streaming has been reliable. I mostly use it for Netflix, Peacock, Prime Video, and YouTube, and they all work without any issues. The remote is simple to use, and I like having everything in one place instead of switching between different devices. Overall, it's been a great purchase and definitely worth the price.

This Vega OS device isn't for me. I want more control & more importantly an extensible, open device like they used to be. I'm going to the Android TV boxes. *EDIT* - I rarely do this (i.e., edit or change my review), but I respect Amazon's willingness here. I am not a Vega OS fan as stated, but that's my fault & I should've read up more on the new generation. Amazon reached out to me, NOT to change my review, but to understand how the new device went wrong for me & also to offer a full refund for the device as we're within a 30-day period, as well as obviously I was unhappy with the device. While the new generation isn't for me, we are keeping the device & the kids/wife will use it on vacations or the like. I also gave them my opinion on what's wrong with the new devices. That said I am changing my review to three from one stars, because after all the poor devs are doing what they're being told to do. Reinvent the wheel instead of actually competing against the segment leader whose device is from 2017... it strikes me as an odd strategy, but what do I know?
