Says it takes up to an hour, but it was pretty much instantaneous for me.. That part of it deserves 5 stars but I really wish Amazon would go back to letting us reload ANY AMOUNT, not the $5 minimum it is now.. Before they implemented this minimum I was able to load any amount I wanted, which was super convenient cuz I'd get lots of prepaid Mastercards that are pretty much gift cards, I cant reload money onto them. I'd get a fixed amount on them like $20, I'd use it on whatever and then I'd have a small balance left say, $2.67. I can't really buy much with it cuz if I tried it'd get declined cuz the purchase total exceeds the amount on the card. So I'd have a bunch of these gift cards with small balances like this which I used to be able to simply load to my Amazon account and increase the balance there, which was awesome i was able to use up the entire amount i was gifted. Then all sudden one day there was a $5 minimum and I can no longer use up all those gift cards with small balances. I know there's some stores where you can use up those gift cards where itd instead of declining due to purchase exceeding the current balance on card, it would subtract it from the purchase total and give you the remaining amount to pay in cash or card or whatever.. but theres just not many around, and sometimes lines are too long where you dont want to tie up the line for others waiting on you trying to use up a gift card with a couple bucks on it.. Thats just not cool.. the easiest and more convenient way was to simply load them onto my Amazon balance. I shop here more than any other store other than grocery stores. Plus having a balance here makes you want to shop here to spend that money that you already have.. Have no idea why they took away unless its a money thing where Mastercard charges them for each transaction and that amount was getting too high to be worth for them? I can see that being an issue and understanding that's why they implemented the $5 minimum but being the largest retailer in the world, I assume their other income avenues could offset that for us to use again.. Hoping someone that be a voice to make that change back reads this and is able to help, many of us would be very grateful, Thanks! ... show more
