This product asks for two people to assemble, but carefully, I did it myself. The instructions were easy, and the color of the bed is definitely dark and black. Gothic and high quality. The section of the frame that supports your body is very sturdy, however, the headboard separated from the rest of the frame. The screw design to hold the headboard to the rest of the frame is very weak. I leaned on the headboard and it separated from the frame. I had to leaned it against a wall to keep it in place. Also the center post that supports the outside of the frame can use some padding to avoid hitting your toes, very painful. Good for a low budget. ... show more

This bed comes unassembled but it is not hard to put together with two people using a ratchet screw driver (allen wrench included but hate using those). The instructions are VERY good. Solid wood set is securely packaged with each piece wrapped in plastic and identified by letter. All hardware appears to be brass and is solid. It has two little wood blocks to install on back of headboard to be against wall if you have a thick baseboard to keep it steady. Beautiful piece and exceeded my expectations. ... show more

Update: They helped me get a new replacement bed frame. The new frame did come with some mold. They said that is normal for high quality wood to have mold and to clean it with bleach water. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because they say the mold is normal. Extremely nice bed. Good quality. Very sturdy and Im very happy I got it! ------- Product is solid wood and looks nice. Looks like it would be a good bedframe. Wasn't able to assemble since main headboard piece arrived damaged. Waiting to hear back from the seller if I can get a replacement. Also box wasn't delivered to my apartment. It was left at a different neighbors so I had to find a way to carry it all the way to mine and it's a pretty heavy box. ... show more

Hard to assemble. Drawings in instructions don’t match the pieces no explanation of how to assemble. I have taken it apart multiple times because pieces don’t go together right. A couple of the bolts are stripped from needing taken apart and used over and over. I like the bed, but it’s not worth this much frustration!! I do not recommend buying.
